Yes, the air has been very clear and clean lately due to the fact that we haven’t had any fronts blow through. I’d kill for a cloudy day, but at least it’s not burning hot.
Sorry that dust is still so thick. Is that because they are harvesting those soybeans now? Hope they’ll be through soon, if that’s the case.
I am sooo looking forward to them! I told hubby the other day, I don’t even want to consider turning the heater on till it’s in the 40s outside...in the daytime. LOL! Exaggeration, but I’m OVER heat. OVER it.
you escape Ian?
The soybeans across the road aren’t ready yet. We still have that to go through eventually. There are fields all over the county still being harvested, though, and the whole area is dusty. The sky’s clear but it’s sort of milky-blue. At sunset, that milkiness turns brownish. Just nasty air everywhere.
Those 70s are definitely something to look forward to. That’s where we’ve been the past several days. Nights have been primarily in the 40s but we haven’t turned the heat on yet. It only drops to about 68 in the house by early morning and that’s not bad. Except for Fridays and Saturdays, I sleep through the coolest time. I only feel it if I wake up for a potty break. LOL
I guess it’s the dust season for you, then. Does this happen every fall? Sort of like our spring dust storms that I hate, but not stormy?
It’s about 72 outside right now. If it weren’t for the mosquitoes...I think they have teensy sweaters...I’d be out there in a heartbeat.
It does get dusty every fall due to harvesting but it’s worse than usual this year. We were VERY dry last month so there’s a LOT of dust to be kicked up by the combines.
My car’s an embarrassment. It’s a dark color and shows every speck of dust. I hosed it off the other night and the next day, it was just as filthy as it was before I took the hose to it. *sigh*
Your 72 sounds a lot better than our 48. The temp dropped early tonight! Too bad you still have skeeters keeping you inside. You have perfect weather for sitting outside.
I’m sorry it’s so bad. I can totally empathize. I hate dust in the air. It stinks and it just kills the sinuses!
How's everyone doing this morning?
Shaw was the last remote tour in the Continental US.
It’s just part of it here, like dust storms are part of it there. We just aren’t used to it being in the air for such a long stretch with no periodic breaks from rainfall.
But the dry is good for the farmers because they can knock their fields out faster. They don’t have to stop to wait for the crops to dry out after it rains.

Did Gizmo give you a run for the money at the lake yesterday?
Did you take the truck in for its check-up or is that still ahead?
Then I hope they get it done and over with and then you have a cleansing rain to wash the air of their dust. And by then it’ll be too cool to want to linger outside for any length of time. Can’t win sometimes.LOL!
Also the pickup is still a couple hundred miles away from 110K so not quite time yet but it will be soon.
We have a little while to go yet because a lot of fields were planted late, like the one across the road, due to our screwy spring weather. But it WILL end.
I’m not so concerned about being able to sit outside. It will just be nice to be able to head out to run errands without choking. LOL
I got distracted for a minute before finishing my first post and you posted your Gizmo shots in the meantime. Gotta stop multi-tasking. LOL
It looks like Gizmo had a great time. Even found a smelly spot to roll in. :-)
Well, I hope it’s over soon so you can enjoy breathing again.
And now, I’d best head out. I’m still sleepy from my early morning yesterday. See ya tomorrow!
Lauren, thank you for this wonderful thread.
Inyerface, you’ll want to see this one.
