It's called deterrence.

Any negotiated peace that results in a net gain for Russia is unacceptable. If you reward any behavior, you are very likely to get more of it.

The goal is for this war to be such a strategic disaster for Russia that not just Russia, but any other potential aggressor country decides that it just isn't worth the risk.

You may not agree with that approach, but the motive is to reduce the number of wars that get started in the first place.

I don’t trust any man’s thinking about anything if he can’t keep his zipper shut. He’s too easily distracted

What you are stating is a common opinion of Betrayus in the NS community.

It’s called Biden Dream World.

For some reason, neocons think the solution is to throw more and more money into a black hole and magically, there will be no more aggressions.

That’s laughable.

There are two corrupt countries fighting each other. Neither of them are worth WWIII and we should let them resolve it amongst themselves.

The reason a negotiated peace settlement is the best option is that it puts a stop to the hostilities (and the hemorrhaging of *our* money), stops the possibility of other powers continuing to get involved and reduces the chance of some global conflagration. As I said, neither country is worth that.

If it puts a crunch on the money-laundering operations, so be it. That’s a bonus as far as I’m concerned.

This war shows that Russia’s military poses no threat to Europe. It’s too weak. So the idea that we have to stop Russia in Ukraine in order to protect Europe from invasion down the road is ludacris. However, a cornered and humiliated Russia *is* a threat to Europe and the entire world because they are a nuclear super power. We are turning a regional conflict into a possible nuclear war. Unwise, very unwise.

*ludicrous

That’s why a negotiated peace settlement is the best option.

Prior to the period 1946-2022, when was the last time Europe went more than 70 years without a major war?

Prior to the period 1946-2022…

There have been plenty of hostilities in Europe during that time period - some of them Soviet invasions into sovereign nations.

Anyway, that’s irrelevant.

Neocons are going to come up with any “logic” to support their desire to keep this thing going indefinitely.

It’s a waste of your time and energy to try and convince me that protracting this war is of any benefit to anybody except the crooks.

And I’d rather not see one more dime of my money going to this corrupt little adventure.

I said "major wars", so since that's the best you can do, I'm assuming your answer is "none." Which would be the correct answer.

The U.S. involvement in NATO has been a massively stabilizing Force in Europe. Countries that had warred against each other incessantly for hundreds of years found themselves in an alliance sharing a common interest. So for my part, I consider that.money well-spent.

“Nations will not continue to pour money into Ukraine unless they think they’re getting something for their money.”

Do kickbacks to leading politicians and senior bureaucrats count?

You obviously don’t know anybody from the former Yugoslavia.

Except none of those “moves” that you posit would do anything to help reverse Putin’s failures in Ukraine.

“China and Iran and Syria will start engaging in a proxy war with the USA through Russia with support militarily...”

HA! Iran and Syria are Russian puppet-states. Russia supports THEM militarily, not the other way around. And China is an ally of convenience, they are not likely to lift a finger to help Russia if it becomes even slightly inconvenient for China.
