NO, the Soviets never gave Poles nukes. The whole point of them occupying eastern Europe was to no get attacked from/through there again. The Soviets put nukes in Poland, but under their control, for their own use.
The last thing they would have done is give some Pole or Czech the ability to fire a nuke at Moscow.
I don’t think “share” is the right word. Sell, yes.
Certainly, the days when the US could park an aircraft carrier off somebody’s shore and bomb the snot out of them are going to be over. Also, look for a lot more nuclear blackmail. Give us X or we nuke you.
As an aside, I suspect China is considering a “special military operation” on their borders with Siberia. Apparently, the predominant language there is Chinese. Maybe they’ll stage a referendum. Regardless, I don’t think Russia can do a thing about it, nor will they risk a nuclear exchange with China.
“And doesn’t this invite Russia to share some of their 6000 nukes with other countries?”
Only for people who are dumb enough to think that Russia “shares” anything, even with its allies.
“The whole point of them occupying eastern Europe was to no get attacked from/through there again.”
Nice, I see you have graduated from just promoting Russian propaganda to promoting actual Soviet propaganda.
What the point of having nukes if nobody knows it?
I trust the Poles far more than I trust the Russians, so absolutely.
Poland was a Warsaw Pact nuclear firebase and DID have nuclear warheads, bombers and missiles given to them by Soviet Union.
Nuclear triggers and codes needed to use them WERE IN SOVIET HANDS making those weapons useless for Poland. Ownership of nukes by Poland was purely a symbolic political act.
As the result of it’s nuclear status, in the event of WWIII going nuclear, Poland was going to be nuked out of existence by NATO.
Way to make yourself a target.
Good point. Putin sends a few nukes to Iran and North Korea, gratis.
Exactly.🤔
