They try it and Musk should send out a deorbit command to the satellites.

I’m on Starlink right now. If the feds seize it, I’m out.

Well, I am also on Starlink, but in my rural area I have no reasonable alternative. I suppose I could go for more expensive low-speed internet, but that would not be smart.

I will vote against seizure, and work against it politically.

The Euro reiche are cheapskates.... barely sending pennies compared to US Billions in Ukraine aid.... EU needs to pony up €Euro’s and fit the bill for starlink...

To seize it would be catastrophic for private technology development...

Very stupid idea.

Also Ukraine needs to start figuring out some damn € lines of credit and stop sucking up $$$’s like a vampire state.

Step up Europe!!!

Damn cheap a$$ Euro trash.

Anyone remember the justification for the US to enter WW 1?

We were supplying arms using passenger boats to England. The Germans warned people that this was happening, and that any supply ships would be considered enemy combatants. We sent people to die to get us into a war that was NONE OF OUR BUSINESS.

Wait, kind of like supplying weapons to one side in a conflict, making us a party to it and a chess piece in reality. WE are making war now, and whatever happens now isn’t Putins fault, or Russias fault. It is OUR FAULT when the eventual happens, one of our transport planes or ships are taken out.

WW 3 + 4 back to back is on its way.

“There's abundant precedent for US government seizure of critical infrastructure during wars

Did I blink and miss the moment that Congress declared war on somebody?

Frum is a moron. A fascist moron.

Sooo...they want to seize Facebook too?

No need to, 1st Zuck will do what ever they want and 2nd I believe that the Deep State already runs Facebook. In a sick way it’s kind of brilliant. Get people to volunteer all their information and friends making it very easy to find and manipulate.

Truman lost his fight to seize the steel mills during the Korean War. Frum forgot to list this outcome, Deliberately.

Frum is a political KAPO..

My mother worked on the preparation of the guidebooks for the Army on how to run the railroads if a strike were to occur in Ww2, 1944. The strike was settled before the Army’s railroad units had to be deployed.

Frum needs some more history lessons and one big one in scholarly humility.

I don’t know if that meme is real, but it accurately shows his contempt for the Conservatives who voted for him and defended him.

Starlink is much more expensive than cable/fiber internet.
I have Spectrum: contract 300Mbps (typically close to 400Mbps) = $75/mo

Starlink (from their website):
Download speeds up to: 200 Mbps
$110/month
Connection: Satellite
Contract: None
Data: No Caps
Modem: Modem: $599 one-time purchase
$110/mo regular rate

For those calling this fascism, relax. It isn’t fascism at all. It’s full-blown communism. State ownership of the means of production.

I figured the FR Bush neocon WWIII rah-rah regiment would be all in for this if it promotes war and it also punishes someone who dared mention a negotiated settlement instead of WWIII.

This shows that the Republicans cannot be counted on to stop the march of fascism/communism. We really do in perilous times and freedom is under attack from nearly every direction politically.

…On Monday, journalist and former George W. Bush speechwriter David Frum said the federal government should be laying the groundwork to seize Starlink from Musk.

“It was always unreasonable, and is becoming unwise, to expect [Musk] to provide Internet to Ukraine for free forever. Western allies should pay,” said Frum, who is currently an editor at The Atlantic and an MSNBC contributor. “And US should have a plan ready to nationalize Starlink fast if Musk cuts off Ukraine’s connection to advance his political agenda.”…
****************************************************************************

Bush RINOS and DemocRATS are the same under the skin. By what friggin’ right would these ZELENSKY sycophants be able to nationalize an American company if it doesn’t provide HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS in FREE services to Ukraine? Notice that they’re not threatening Lockheed Martin and other defense contractors who are MAKING BILLIONS IN PROFITS FROM THE UKRAINE WAR.

IMHO they are simply trying to intimidate Musk. Hopefully that will not work.
