It’s in the article... In 2018 Florida made it legal for felons to vote.... except murderers and certain sex offenders. The exception is not stated on the voter registration form. Which it probably should have been. These charges will probably be thrown out.

That said, I don’t doubt for a moment that various democrats lied to them and told them they can vote. They don’t care what happens. They just want the vote.
They were shocked they got in trouble for breaking the law. Police are supposed to just harass conservatives.

We’re doing a clean up of the rolls here in Florida. But I doubt that any of the people (the registrees) arrested are going to get any punishment, because they were obviously defrauded by the people who had registered them or encouraged them to register and bought their votes.
Most of them are pretty dysfunctional and the Dems took advantage of them.
However, arresting them might make some in the black community pay a little more attention and make them realize that they’re being used.
That said, the GOP is lousy about messaging black areas. I was a GOP volunteer in Gainesville FL and a black man called us and asked us to bring door hangers and visit his neighborhood...and he said he couldn’t talk long because he was afraid his family would hear.
I checked him out and he was legit, but the GOP office where I was working wouldn’t send anybody or even give me door hangers to distribute in his neighborhood. So I contacted the GOP in Tallahassee, the leader of which at the time was black, and they totally blew me off.
We’ve got to get our act together because there’s a lot of black people who don’t like being prisoners of the Democratic Party and its low expectations for them.
It seems Desantis has read the tea leaves concerning President Trump and sees that this is what conservative/Republican voters want. Follow the law. Don’t lay back and accept the public pounding of the media and other assorted liberals. He is doing it without the perceived abrasivness of President Trump and getting the job done.
the cops were apologetic for doing their job and arresting CRIMINALS who voted illegally? Maybe it is time to defund cops that wont do their jobs when it comes to supporting GOP, but who run full speed to do whatever liberals tell them to do whether it’s legal or not! Get a new crop of cops who will do their job and not whine about arresting CRIMINALS who are here illegally and who who vote illegally!~
Our cops in general are pretty polite here. These people are mostly not immigrants, just low-skilled and low information locals (often but not always black) who were used by the Dems.
This is a fine example of how the media works, the arrests are normal, the cops being gentle and polite and soft-spoken to some non-violent arrestees for non-violent crimes is normal, this could have been reported in a normal manner as a news report on voter crime, but........
It is masterful that they manage to report this news in such a manner that it sounds like a cruel horrible mistake by a tyrant governor against innocent victims, vindictive totalitarian violence against the meek and mild innocents.
The writers didn’t even have to lie, they just wrote with a mood, a tone, a sympathetic vocabulary, and a description of race and it conveyed what they want it to convey.
While ignorance of the law is no excuse, the legislative is responsible for this mix up.
Do former felon also get to buy guns too? That’s just as important as the ballot.
They are going where the most readily available takes them. Lighten up! it will take a lot longer to Ferrett out the big-time fraudsters.
Most ex-cons can vote in FL thanks to a Constitutional amendment approved by voters.
I despise direct democracy.
I’ll bet tons of legal immigrants are voting. They are not citizens but are voting anyway. We have millions who have lived here for 5-10-20 years and more who never became US citizens. They are here legally. Some are working. Some or most pay taxes. Some are getting SS Disability. They are not citizens but are voting.
I knew a green card holder (legal immigrant) who was on SS Disability. This is legal. But ya cannot vote!
I was appalled when I saw this on the ballot.
It was accompanied by a loosening of marijuana laws, so turnout was key for the DemComs.

Exactly! It’s not illegal immigrants who are voting. It is legal immigrants who are voting. It I were one and had been living here for 10-20 years. Paying all kinds of taxes. Paying property taxes. Never breaking any laws. Sending my kids to school here... I would be very tempted to vote.
