I live in the “Frisco ghetto”. There was only one golf course and one high school in town when I moved here.
Lance used to bike though our neighborhood to the velodrome. The pop was about 6000 then. I moved here to get away from the big city Arlington was becoming.
And the colorful houses on prostitute row - John Hickman.
Yep. I dropped out and went to college in 1978
Two most famous to come out of Plano - Lance Armstrong and Barney the purple dinosaur. Most famous to die in Plano - Bob Guccione (Penthouse). Let’s see Frisco match that.
Frisco used to have an airport. A developer rented a passenger jet from an airline (737, I think) to land and take off while talking about scheduled service to scare the city into closing the airport and make it available for development. Another Frisco developer got the state regulators to order all the Oncor customers statewide to pay for burying a high power line past the subdivision he was developing to boost the value of the houses.
And, of course, you can't hold the Frisco developers responsible for building houses on land adjacent to property with known lead contamination. Let the taxpayers cover the clean up costs. (At least the city is going to turn most of the former battery plant site into a park so children can play there).
Frisco, where the Dallas Cowboy’s training complex “The Star” is and where the PGA is building it’s new headquarters including 2 championship golf courses, Omni Hotel, hotels, conference centers, residential, lakes, an incredible development. Frisco is exploding and I think just named the best city to live in period...in the whole country.
Don’t forget, soon to be PGA headquarters including 2 18 hole championship courses and even a 9 hole lighted night course. Omni Resort, conference center, hotels, lakes, you name it.
Hopefully it will buck historical precedent illustrating how fleeting is glory for countless past cities.
I also forgot about the National Soccer Hall of Fame. And of course the Railway museum they got from Fair Park in Dallas.
yeah..and Babe’s Fried Chicken too. Best in Texas.
"Curry" or "firewater?"
Regards,
I don’t know if Babe’s is anything to brag about - even Garland has one.
