I was speeding badly in the early am hours in Traverse City, MI a few months ago. I was late, had gotten lost, my phone went crazy on gps, and working at a dogshow. There was no traffic out there but me on a wide six lanes road.
I was pulled over by three police cars. The guy who came to the window had two cops backing him, one on each side, and the woman had her hand on her gun, still holstered but tightly grasped.
I looked at them and the first thing I said was “Wow, I am not going to hurt you”.
And it all ended well. In fact they forgave me and gave me directions. No ticket.
I told several people about it at the show and they thought the police were looking for someone that day.
But it really made me think about their daily activities.
Funny thing is, you can’t even get the actual cops to shoot
looters.

Sorry, that’s too much of a stretch for me.
In 2016 police in Dallas used a robot to kill a suspect in the murder of 5 police officers. At that point, few people had even considered LE using robots to kill people. In reality, I suspect there are many police forces around the country with this capability. The problem is in how they use this technology, particularly as AI becomes more widespread.

There are lots of dystopian novels that deal with this concept, and none of them are scenarios I would want to live in.
I do, and it’ll be by the same kind of people who exonerated Michael Leroy Byrd for murdering Ashli Babbitt.

I’m guessing the robots wouldn’t autonomously shoot but rather a person would aim and fire the robot’s weapon.
So now I can have lethal, remote-controlled robots to defend my home. COOL !!
