I understand your point but take an alternate view.

What is the Biden circus realized and could convey convincingly to the President that all the various wind and solar applications times a hundred will never get the job done? That failure is to be compounded by the growth of the EV existence.

Conventional nuclear on a safe smaller scale is unacceptable to the Democrat riff raff.

Hence, Fusion has to be. There is no other known alternative.

Then, in the background, Elon Musk is lurking. He has an electric generating ace up his sleeve. The Biden effort is an effort to cut Musk off at the pass.

Are the rumors that they “can’t be sure because some of their equipment was damaged during the experiment” true?

Which will happen first?

1. US Men’s Soccer Team wins the World Cup
2. Fusion reactors begin to power the electric grid

Yes it sounds like another cold fusion story.

A blast from the past

The Elites don’t want clean, unlimited power. They want Control which they can get by rationing power.

Presentation
U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, under secretary for nuclear security Jill Hruby, director of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Dr. Kim Budil and other officials are announcing a “major scientific breakthrough” in the quest to harness the power of nuclear fusion — the process that powers the sun and the stars. “Simply put this is one of the most impressive scientific feats of the 21st century,” Granholm said.

Former fusion scientist on why we won't have fusion power by 2040

I refute some very optimistic claims about fusion power and discuss some of the challenges in making this long-sought after technology a reality.

They are more likely products of heat and pressure on carbon compounds that were already present in the earth's crust. Not from algae or dead dinosaurs.

This has been known since the 1970s. Oil is renewable resource.

Hydrogen bombs use fusion ... the problem isn’t fusion - it’s the ‘wall’ - being able to contain the reaction long enough to harness the energy.

2.1 megajoules of power (which I’ll assume is one hell of a lot of energy) to create 2.5 megajoules of power. My laymen’s perspective sees lots of expenditure for a 20% +/- output.

Who here can explain this better?

Watch the video at https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/4115867/posts?page=69#69

A fusion energy gain factor, usually expressed with the symbol Q, is the ratio of fusion power produced in a nuclear fusion reactor to the power required to maintain the plasma in steady state. The condition of Q = 1, when the power being released by the fusion reactions is equal to the required heating power, is referred to as breakeven, or in some sources, scientific breakeven.

Here Q is 2.5/2.1 = 1.19, but that is far from what is needed. To produce electricity there are a lot of losses from heat to output of electricity. Read more https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fusion_energy_gain_factor

and watch the video

They haven’t gt crap ready to go. This is a cover for pushing all the ridiculous electric crap they don’t have sufficient power for without fossil fuels.

US govt is a bunch of liars.

Of course it will always be years away. Unless they reduce the middle class to low. Use robots to build, and pop off with a energy source that will power a road vehicle as well as a private airliner. Then it will just be a matter of, “you can’t have it”. “Remember all of the pollution, the crashes, the city streets lined with tents, feces and gross people?”

“WE the people, in order to form a more perfect society, have endeavored to unite all classes into their proper and useful places. WE have the education, the knowledge to use these things, but must protect your class of differently abled souls from this dangerous technology.”
