We're single digits cold with a bunch of snow on the ground from weeks before so we do have icy roads but it's still drivable.

I did my weekly grocery shopping today and am just going to hunker down now for the rest of the Christmas weekend.

Greek Orthodox have been following the “new calendar” (Gregorian) for nearly a century, so we celebrate on December 25.

Up your way there are mostly Russian/Slovakian aligned communities so they follow the “old calendar” and celebrate on January 7.

Yuck, so you’ve got this nasty frigid weather, too, huh? It’s horribly cold here and I’m ready for it to move on out!! Only 10 degrees for us today but tomorrow is supposed to make it up to mid 20s. We’ll still have single-digit nights through the weekend. :-(

I’m hunkered down for the weekend other than having to go out to check the heaters in the two pump houses for the wells. So far, so good on those.

Pump houses still warm?

Yep, it sounds like you got hit today like we did yesterday. It was 45 here at 9:30 last night, 30 at 10:30, and it just got worse as the night wore on. At 4:30 this morning, it was down to 9 and still dropping. The wind was howling all night too.

This time next week, they say we’ll be in the 50s and the weekend highs will be in the low to mid 60s. I want that NOW!

Glad you like the selection and I hope others do to.

As of this afternoon, the pump houses were fine. I’ll check them again a little later tonight. It should be a little easier for the poor heaters to do their job now that the wind has died down. Last night was horrible.
