I can imagine if Han, for whatever reason, are more susceptible to COVID then it would make sense that ~25% of them could have it at the same time.

I can imagine that the COVID gain-of-function was developed in a Chinese biowarfare lab with an intended specific affinity for European-descended ethnic groups. But they only had Chinese prisoners on which to practice. Just a small detail that couldn't make any important difference. They had a high-pressure deadline for results, and they were late. Well, the last monthly report from the program said "It works now. Any questions?".

We all got lucky. The virus that was accidently released from Wuhan was unstable and quicky mutated into less lethal forms. That is the classic evolutionary path of viruses.
