This. If there's no discipline in the home even the best teachers are just banging their heads against the wall. But any criticism of certain groups' culture is now racist, never mind that the same criticisms could be made against some subgroups of white people.
All through school I was terrible at foreign languages including Spanish, I lived in a Mexican neighborhood most of my friends spoke both English and Spanish, MATH was the one foreign language (and yes, it is a language with lots of dialects) I HAD TO LEARN.
My job later in life required advanced mathematics if I wanted to do it well.

Grundle, that is good advice for all parents. Private school or homeschool. Students of all ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds excel in homeschooling. One of mine pretty much taught himself, and he ended up working through college as a math tutor.
Would that really do them any good. White and Asian kids would be attending those good schools too. The Black and Hispanic kids scores would still be lower. Bell Curve.
People are misunderstanding the term "advanced math skills". As usual, people on this forum misunderstand a term they're not familiar with, and then make fools of themselves.
In this case, "advanced math SKILLS" refers to understanding mathematical concepts that are normally considered appropriate to an older child. A kindergarten "student" who understands maths at a level normally associated with third grade has "advanced math SKILLS". An eighth grader who understands maths at a level normally associated with senior year of high school has "advanced math SKILLS".
"Advanced" modifies "skills" not "math".
People on this forum bitch about authors who can't write, while they show evidence that they can't read.
