Do you think the refraction index for water changed after the Great Flood? Did spear fishermen take note of that, or was there no spear fishing before then? Personally, I think the rainbow bit if just fable.
By the way, I used your incomplete statement about the rainbow as an example to my facebook friends of why it’s important to read the Bible for ourselves and not trust people who mix truth and error.
Clearly, you had not read the whole text, you are the perfect example of someone who mixes truth with error. The rainbow was not a promise by God to never to destroy the eart again as you wrongfully asserted.
As I showed you in the complete text, it was a promise by God to never destroy the earth again BY A FLOOD, in fact he says it TWICE in that text I showed you.
Additionally, logic, reason would tell anyone, that because God was specific that he won’t destroy the earth again BY A FLOOD, is more proof he is going to destroy it again.....just by other means. And that’s what we read. It’s by fire.....he’s going to burn up this world, and create a new one. To create a new one, you have to get rid of the old one.

Well, I don’t know enough about the science of refraction so I can’t help you there. However, I will say this. Not only is the flood literal and actual, Jesus even mentions Noah, so that’s another reason for me to believe about Noah, but the flood was such a massive catastrophic unprecedented and was of such magnitude, the greatest BY FAR, natural catastrophic disaster this earth has ever seen.........it changed everything from the shapes of mountains and most importantly the layers of sediments that today’s geologists use to age the earth.
When God caused a great wind to come over the earth, to bury everything, it created layers and layers and layers geological sediments that today’s geologists think took billions of years to form.
In other words, God did in a day or so, I don’t know how long he that great wind he caused to bury everything that had died, all the people, animals, cities, etc.......it tood him less then probably a day or 2 what foolish humans think it takes billions of years of evolution to do.
What an amazing God! And that is why the Sabbath day is important. It commemorates a literal 7 day creation week, Seven 24 hour periods was all God used .....not billions of years of evolution.
The Flood was no fable. In fact, it explains the age of the earth, about 6000 years old because of how God cleaned up the mess. That great wind. When the Bible says a great wind, we can only imagine how great it was.
To be honest, we should be studying the flood. Jesus said just before he comes back......it shall be as in the days of Noah. And it is so now. And will even get worse. And that rainbow.....so beautiful, so spectacular......it can come only from the mind of God.

I don’t believe it had ever rained before the flood. I think this was the first time in human history there was rain from above. The earth was still in it’s infancy, very beautiful almost Eden like and the dew naturally watered the earth as God intended.
That is probably why they scoffed at Noah. They had never seen rain before. The rainbow came for the first time in earth’s history after the first rain.
It also stands to reason, why would God use an existing element, the rainbow to make a new covenant? To me that doesn’t make sense. I think his new covenant with Noah to never destroy the earth again by a flood was sealed by a new beautiful element. The Glorious Rainbow which Noah probably marvelled at for the first time ever.
