Fort Moore
Fort Eisenhower
Fort Novosel

That’s a lot of white men. Some people are going to be very upset by that.

67 Republicans joined with Democrats to tear down the nation’s historical statues and rename our military installations.

https://clerk.house.gov/Votes/2021196

Kevin McCarthy who also voted Yes made the comment that these statues were ALL Democrats. So, Republicans let the Democrats erase their association with history that they have now hidden.

McCarthy:
“All of the statues being removed by this bill are statues of Democrats... Maybe it’s time the Democrats change the name of their party.”

If we are going to change names, the place to start is every building and place named after a Democrat politician who was in office before 1970. The ones from the 1800s actively supported slavery. The ones from the late 1800s through the 1960s actively supported Jim Crow and used anti-black race hatred to get white votes. Republicans are stupid for not using these name changes as a weapon to point out that the Democrats are the ones who always have, still do, and always will use race hatred to get votes.

Ft. Bragg is the home of the Airborne, they should call it Fort Geronimo!

Why not Fort George Floyd?

Or older, Camp Rodney King? (AKA Camp Can’t We All Get Along)

Or even simply Camp Coexist?

This is all low hanging fruit. Are any of these Confederates worse than George Washington? Be patient it is coming.

It will always be FT Bragg.

Ditto. I was also in the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg. It will always be Bragg to me and the untold thousands of other soldiers who served there.

Next up for the Leftist will be to insure all mentions of "Fort Bragg" in popular culture are deleted out of the public consciousness. Just think of Schwarzenegger in "Predator"..."Jim Hopper." I know these men...Green Berets out of Fort Bragg Liberty."

It does seem spectacularly perverse to name a U.S. base after an anti-United States insurrectionist. I guess he’s sort of a national hero: his rank incompetence helped shorten the Civil War.

“Bragg was extremely unpopular with both the officers and ordinary men under his command, who criticized him for numerous perceived faults, including poor battlefield strategy, a quick temper, and overzealous discipline. Bragg has a generally poor reputation with historians,... The losses suffered by Bragg’s forces are cited as highly consequential to the ultimate defeat of the Confederacy.”

I don’t know.

‘Liberty’ sounds like a trigger word and it will probably upset a lot of leftists who will eventually demand it be changed to something less sinister.

Just keep calling it Fort Bragg until we can change the name back. We live in a disfunctional nation.

They all do.

The Kennedy Space Center has been on Cape Canaveral (again) since they flipped the name back in 1973.

Space Geek signing off for this thread.

Isn’t that like asking “Are any of these patriots better than Benedict Arnold?” The British put up statues of Horatio Nelson, not Pierre Villaneuva.

Besides, the answer is “yes.” Of course they are. Washington was known for being a tolerant master who eventually (although belatedly) set his slaves free and believed all slaves should eventually be set free. Oh, and of course, Washington won.

They changed Cape Caneveral to Cape Kennedy. Then, back to Cape Caneveral.
