No self respecting “minority” would ever accept affirmative action and should loudly support ending it in all its manifestations. EVERY time someone looks at a black doctor or pilot or engineer is going to think... “Is this guy the best or did he get his position with AA?”

STEM fields are probably where it's worse. Women score better for verbal and less good for math.

*For those pedantic Freepers, I'm speaking in generalities. Women means the population that is female. By percentage they cluster in the middle in aptitude tests, scoring rarely in the very highest or very lowest percentiles.

My daughter is applying to colleges now and with a declared major of biomedical engineering I was hoping her gender would help her with admission. Nope—one college she is hoping for already has an incredible 65% women in that major. It would be better if she were male if they are going for some balance.

If the doctor is a white male, he did not benefit from affirmative action. The solution is to go to white male doctors exclusively.

That's not a major with which I'm familiar The biological fields in general attract the most women. I think it's a good choice because there's so much flexibility there at least that's what I told my son. He wasn't interested.

Back when I was looking at schools for my kids, some which were seen as women's schools were easier to get admittance for men because they were/are all looking for “diversity”. Basically it looked the same for the other way around.

Killer King was also a teaching hospital...How many of their “students” went on to be just like their teachers in other hospitals...Don’t forget Patrick Chavis from the Allen Bakke days...When CHAVIS had his license stripped , the judge said he didn’t even have the basic medical skills.....WHY WAS HE A DOCTOR???

I’ve been doing that since the Alan Bakke case when the Supremes decided discrimination was ok.

One of my family members had a similar experience to this happen more than ten years ago—edged out by foreign students and POCs with scores manifestly lower; I imagine it is even worse now.

I pity the future patients of the Affirmative Action doctors. Finding a white male doctor will be increasingly difficult. POCs seem fine with announcing they want “someone who looks like me” to be their providers; but even the thought of preferring someone of similar background is verboten for white people.
