You need to get a rooster and hatch those eggs. What breed, if you don’t mind me asking?

I believe that the ELF jackasses devolved into the Aunt Teefers since both of those wacko fascist mobs first appeared among demented cliques roaming aimlessly throughout Europe.

I don’t suppose anyone collects statistics on commercial farm fires? For all we know the pace of fires is normal, it’s just that people are paying attention now. On the flip side, I’ve seen several of the abstracts on research into egg yolks and COVID, and have to admit this makes you go “hmmm....”

Have they lost a factory that produces chemicals for the water purification plants yet?

Just saw an article that wholesale price of eggs has collapsed. Matbe because people quit buying them at the high price.

Somewhat off topic, but I just saw this hyper-Internet marketed offer promoted on Dr. Jane Ruby’s show.

Would be curious about your take on it:

Henrietta is a Cream Legbar. They are a great breed. Good looking, auto sexing, very hardy, friendly, and they lay a large blue green egg. I can’t have a rooster here in the burbs but our rural property is zoned agricultural so I plan to hatch out chicks when we get moved.

Haven't heard of that breed. Are they related to the Aracuna, the famed breed from the Andes who lays a similar colored egg?

You need to borrow a rooster from a rural friend during peak breeding season in late March to mid April and save the eggs. One afternoon should do the job for eight hens or fewer. Depending on the breed, they will recommend one rooster per between five and ten hens, but eight is a good average.

Roosters who escape the stew pot have a good life, LOL!

The Cream Legbar is a pure breed but I wouldn’t doubt they have some Ameracauna in their history. I had a mix of Americauna and Cream Legbar hens. I’ll likely just go with Cream Legbars if I’m getting a rooster. I’m probably going to go ahead and pay the big bucks and order chicks from Green Fire Farms because you can make a lot of money selling chicks if your breeding stock is from Green Fire.

These guys? https://greenfirefarms.com/

My Dad and I used to Murray McMurray in Webster City, Iowa because they were a 24 hour shipment point. Baby chicks don't survive for much longer, as you probably know.

Yes they import rare land race chickens from all over and sell breeding stock. Some of their chicks are $99.00 each.

$99 each for a top end baby chick seems pretty steep alright, but still an everyman hobby compared to restoring classic cars, sailing or horse racing.

We would be in a lot less hurt if backyard chickens, in particular, became akin to a human right, but that should include most forms of urban agriculture. Even a rooster, for instance, is far less annoying than a yappy dog.
