I’ve known that Oakland is a dangerous place since I was 11 years old. That was 70 years ago. My mom, dad, and I had flown to CA from Chicago to see my mother’s brother. Uncle Jack was wonderful, we all loved him very much. We stood on the beach in San Francisco and Jack pointed across the water and said:
“Never go to Oakland. You could get killed there.” Jack had just come back from Japan where he was part of the occupation at the end of WW2.
Oakland was more dangerous than Hirohito and Kamikaze pilots. Apparently it still is.
Don’t go there.
She never had the common sense to realize that she could be “the other” and it cost her her life.
Liberals almost never learn that their reality isn’t real.

"As a long-time social movement activist and anarchist, Jen did not believe in state violence, carceral punishment, or incarceration as an effective or just solution to social violence and inequity. The outpouring of support and care for Jen, her family and friends, and the values she held dear is a resounding demonstration of the response to harm that Jen believed in: community members relying on one another, leading with love, centering the needs of the most vulnerable, and not resorting to vengeance and inflicting more harm."
Like some foolish person who puts on a "I Love Lions" T-shirt and jumps in the lions' pen at the zoo, thinking she'll be unharmed because her intentions are good.
