Commit to victory? Troops on ground and thousands of dead American soldiers? There is no public will for that. Nor any reason to believe it would to victory.

Gen. Keane is a solid but conventional military analyst. The consensus opinion in Washington when Russia invaded was that she would win due to superior numbers. Keane bought into it, but that does not make him wrong now.

Since the last American ship sailed out of Tokyo Bay in 1945, the U.S. hasn’t played to win anything.
Its the one job our military is supposed to do, prepare for future conflicts.

It disgusts me. Neocons mean war and neocons mean big money.
Most people thought it would turn into a Russia-Afghanistan redo, but, the Ukies somewhat unexpectedly did much(!) better than the Afghans did in the early stages of the Russian invasion of Afghanistan. That in turn pushed the conflict into more of a WW1 style war (but with more modern weapons.)
Solely from a tactical standpoint, the problem there is we only sent 20, and only the low end munitions.
