Let murderers walk but charge anyone defending their property.
Woke Soros DA.

Now they destroy an innocent man’s life.

Little wonder why New Orleans is the murder capital of the country.

Tragic.
The system of pseudo-justice makes good people have to sacrifice their lives and freedom for true, holy justice.

Peters has no criminal history, said his attorney, Tonell Byrd.”
I’m waiting for Paul Harvey to tell us “The Rest of the Story”.

Peters “sees someone breaking into his car and comes out of the house firing,” prosecutor Michael Grey
If this description is accurate, Denzal Peters would be up for charges in most jurisdictions. Not saying it’s right, but you aren’t allowed to use deadly force to protect property, only your own or someone else’s life. The little car thief is in a lot less legal trouble than Mr Peters. Perhaps there will be a sympathetic juror.

If he goes out to try to stop the theft of the car and they threaten him with a stolen gun, it turns into a good shoot.

Grand theft auto and perp is armed with deadly weapon. Only in a screwed up world is hero arrested instead of receiving a medal. His quick action likely prevented others from being shot by the perps. Unbelievable.

Like you said, it depends on the jurisdiction. In Texas, I believe commiting theft in the night makes you a fair target.
