“President Trump was wrong,” Pence told the hushed crowd. “I had no right to overturn the election. And his reckless words endangered my family and everyone at the Capitol that day. And I know that history will hold Donald Trump accountable.” He is correct on this point. Since no state had the guts to send a competing slate of electors. However his job was to organize the various state legislatures (AZ, PA) to send a competing slate of electors. He failed to do that job.
