I agree.
Russia should stop its “forever” war by ending its war of in invasion against a sovereign nation.

I call them sleepers. Freepers have been pretty good at spotting sleepers since the late Clinton period. You gotta hand it to them on the Ukraine scam. Those payoffs and kickbacks must go pretty far and wide.

Actually we should remain on the Security Council to preserve our veto. Russia learned this lesson during the Korean War.

I’ve been lurking and posting here since 1998 and I can’t recall anyone here advocating for war with Russia before. If you call for peace negotiations they will say you are a Putin stooge and cowering to nuclear blackmail and then claim war with Russia can’t hurt us because their nuclear forces are so rundown that they can’t hurt us.

No, the US should VETO ALL Dishonor and withdraw entirely from the UN.

Russias main trading partners are the west. So sanctions by the west hits Russia hard.

“Russias main trading partners are the west. So sanctions by the west hits Russia hard.”

Well, perhaps that was the case, UNTIL WE BLEW UP THEIR PIPELINE. Now they’re looking elsewhere, and China is very, very, hungry for what Russia can supply them.

You are calling for a successful Russian invasion and another major chunk of rebuilding their empire.

I never thought I would see that here.

Not cheering Russia to victory is not advocating for war, it is cheering on the victim of their invasion and hoping Russia will stop the war they are imposing on Ukraine.

Wrong. There you go mischaracterizing what I posted. I don’t care for either side. You will undoubtedly say that’s parroting Kremlin talking points. That’s been said before to everyone in favor of peace talks.

War is what Russia is doing, not the people of the world, and at FR, sympathetic to the victim being invaded.

Now that Russia has invaded Ukraine and taken the most valuable portions of it, you now want them to “negotiate” that transfer of wealth and territory, and harbors to the army that took them, in other words, ‘stop resisting’, accept Russia’s invasion of your nation and get used to a much poorer and smaller future and eventually being totally absorbed by Russia.

How is it mischaracterizing what you said?

You want the victims to stop fighting and talk to the invaders about what they will accept to stop killing them.

That is called a successful invasion.

One more time, you are mischaracterizing what I posted. Try to think it through. There will be peace eventually and there will be negotiations whether you like it or not. That’s being realistic, not rooting for one side or the other.

You keep shifting what you said and what I responded to.

Among the silly and even made-up things you had said in that post, you are calling for negotiations now, not in some distant future.

Russias trade isn’t going to pivot that fast

Russian government’s expenses went up by 50% compared to last year. By the end of March 2023, the federal treasury deficit reached 4 trillion rubles, while oil and gas revenues dropped by half.

Industrial production dropped by 2% in the first 2 months of 2023 — and that’s despite round-the-clock operation of military production, which jumped by almost 40%.

The decline in mining accelerated (3.2% drop in February); production of cars (-69.9%) and pharmaceuticals (-22%) started the year with a 2-digit collapse in production.

The decline in retail trade turnover accelerated in February to 7.8% from 6.6% in January and affected both food (-2.4%) and non-food items (-12.3%).
