The incident and surrounding actions by the Vietminh in the general southern territory of Vietnam, were a consequence of the British re-arming some French troops - that went strongly against the grain of Ho Chi Minh who sought control over Vietnam upon the Japanese surrender.
The French (whom the militant Annamese [Vietminh] disliked) had expected to recover control, but the power was assigned to the British.
When the Brits re-armed the French, the spark was ignited: Vietminh vs. French.
May all such men rest in peace and we remember their sacrifice.

I remember the long cheers at the Dem. Nat. Convention which I followed on TV, when a senator said “And in the Gulf of Tonkin...” to extoll the heroic leadership of LBJ and the cheering went on for a long time.
Just as the tears did later when LBJ chose not to run again due to his and his aides miscalculations and the loss of lives of American men.

I don't see these kinds of posts from those on the anti-Ukrainian war posters. When a man chooses to fight in a foreign war for pay, his nationality to many ceases to be a shield when he dies.

That’s my opinion too. Paid trolls, AI bots or whatever are seemingly at work here. The Ukrainian people post gobs of garbage in just one thread, posting to themselves. A dead give away on one of the postings was that the post was identical to Soviet era propaganda. The Uke’s are prior Soviet and likely learned this stuff first hand.
FR cannot be the only website bothering the Deep State. However I do see their concern, as both Covid and Ukraine can come an bite them in the next election.
