So, you condone Zelensky tearing down churches in Ukraine, sort of like the Nazis did and like the Chinese are doing?

There is nothing remotely conservative about you and your ilk.

THE ANTI-GOD SUBTEXT TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

Its the ultimate Russian hypocrisy. In their invasion Russians have destroyed more than 500 Ukrainian churches. Worse, they purge EVERY non-Kremlin-aligned church or mosque in the Ukrainian occupied territories.

Russia purges non-Kremlin-aligned churches from occupied territories

Russians have started to forcibly integrate religious centers in Russian-occupied parts of Ukraine into Kremlin-controlled churches and mosques, the Ukrainian military's National Resistance Center reported on Dec. 26.

According to the center, the Russian-state-funded organization "Russian Association for the Protection of Religious Freedom" is operating in occupied territories to rid them of non-Russian-state-aligned churches.

The organization has been auditing the properties of Protestant and Orthodox Church of Ukraine churches, as well as mosques that are not under the control of the Russian-state spiritual administration of Islam.

If the Russians are destroying churches, it's because Ukrainian military was using them as a base of operation.

The Ukrainians have committed multiple war crimes during this war -- using civilians as human shields, intentionally targeting civilians in Donetsk city, including on Easter Sunday, and attacking a nuclear power plant.

And, never mind, that the Biden regime intentionally committed one of greatest acts of international terrorism by blowing up the Nord Stream pipelines.

You and your ilk are soulless, sociopathic liars.

Every dictator is good on the gay issue, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Communist China, any and all the Muslim countries, but there is more to the world than that and besides, Zelensky and his party have been holding off the gay marriage issue.

I read your post to me and how you post to others when you aren’t spamming FR with your constant repeat spamming every day, and I don’t really believe that Christianity is what drives your hatred and foul mouth.

If the Russians are destroying churches

Russians are destroying Ukrainian churches, because they invaded Ukraine and have leveled whole cities.

So tell me, how many churches are left in the occupied Ukrainian territories that are independent and NOT under the Moscow Patriarch? Answer is ZERO.

Russia isn’t known as a Christian nation, it is known as an evil country and a brutal people with a costumed, Russian Orthodox ceremonial institution married to the government and whichever strong man is in charge of it at any given moment.

The Russian Orthodox is an arm of the state, which is why Russians don’t bother with churchgoing, they aren’t actually believing Christians, and the state persecutes serious Christians.

Russia drove my friend, a Christian missionary, out of Russia, because he was not a member of the official church.

He operates freely in Ukraine.

Russians are not Christian people, Russia is not a Christian nation.

Russia’s state church is what the Communists are trying to create in China, replace the Christians and their churches with a phony ceremonial state ‘Christian’ church, that will absorb any religious impulses from the people and check the boxes, without actually contaminating them with true, heartfelt and life-changing faith in Christ.

Yes, but why slip and slide around the issue that it’s an outright attack on religious worship nonetheless? Whatever denomination being attacked, it’s anti-christian and evil at its core. The writer is trying to point out the media and official silence in the West over this religious persecution.

No, the author is trying to characterize restrictions on the Russian Orthodox Church with restrictions on the Orthodox faith in general. The restrictions here are not based on religion but on politics. It must be remembered that for the Orthodox, the church has always be subservient to the state; the church being almost a ministry of the state. Thus the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine is viewed as an arm of the Russian state. While regrettable, this is the source of the restrictions, not an attack on religion per se.

My understanding is the Orthodox church rejects Christ’s divinity.

That is incorrect. The beliefs of the Orthodox are similar to those of Catholics. There are some significant differences, especially around the status of the pope, but that should not be a topic for this thread.

A question for you, Kazan: is the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Kyiv Patriarchate) allowed to operate freely in the Russian occupied areas?

You're ignorant of the Orthodox church:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Orthodox_theology#:~:text=Eastern%20Orthodox%20Christians%20believe%20that,pre-eternal%20Son%20begotten%20of

Eastern Orthodox Christians believe the Word of God (Greek: Λόγος) is one person in two natures, both fully divine and fully human, perfectly God (τέλειος Θεός) and perfectly man (τέλειος άνθρωπος) united in the person of Jesus Christ, in a unique event known as "the Incarnation".

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is no more real than Kawnzaa. It was literally created the puppet government we installed.

The version of Orthodoxy we created is much like the "Christian" churches in China under the control of the government.

Before the illegal coup we fomented there was only one Orthodox church in Ukraine and it under the authority of the Russian Orthodox church.

You should read up on the history of the Russian Orthodox Church. It dates to only 1448 and was the creation of Vasily II, Grand Prince of Moscow when he imprisoned the Metropolitan Isidore of Kyiv and appointed Jonah of Moscow. His authority only extended to the lands controlled by Moscow. Meanwhile the Metropolitan of Kyiv continued in the lands outside of Moscow's control. From this point on the division of the Ukrainian church becomes complicated. The extension of the Russian Orthodox Church into the rest of Ukraine was only accomplished by the advance of the Russian armies.

The autocephalous status of Moscow was recognized by Constantinople only in 1589. In like manner, the autocephalous status of Kyiv was recognized by Constantinople in 2018. Given that the Patriarchate of Moscow was created by a unilateral act by Moscow, they have no grounds to complain that Kyiv would follow suit and do the same. If anything, Kyiv has a greater historical claim of authority over Moscow than Moscow has over Kyiv.

Prove they are spying and prove that Ukraine isn’t lying and that it’s not anti-Othhodox bigotry.

No proof means they get to go to church as God is greater than man.

And even if there is proof, all the people at a particular church accused of spying have to be proven to be spying or they get to go to church.

I do not know if the charges are true but it is not anti-Orthodox bigotry. If anything, it would be anti-Russian bigotry. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Kyiv Patriarchate) is freely operating.

Whether you like you it or not, there are ethnic Russians and devote Orthodox Christians in Ukraine that affiliate with Russian Orthodox church. That church doesn't exist there to promote Russian propaganda. It exists as it has for decades.

So, Zelensky shutting down those churches is an absolute assault on the religious freedom of those that attend those churches. They are being shutdown simply because they are Russian.

Too many here don't seem to realize not everyone in Ukraine, even what's left of it, hates Russia or everything Russian. Russian history is part of Ukrainian history, dating back before communism.

The ignorance of the region by the Russian haters here is astounding.

If you look at my past posts you will see that I agree with you that the closure of the Russian Orthodox churches is regrettable. But I will ask you again, is the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Kyiv Patriarchate), or the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, allowed to operate freely in the areas controlled by Russia? The Russians can hardly demand freedom for me but not for thee.

Whether you like it or not, there are devout Orthodox Christians in Ukraine that seek independence from Moscow. Will you renounce your former condemnation of the Kyiv Patriarchate and recognize them as a legitimate church?

It should be kept in mind that the Russian Orthodox Church was created by the state as an act of intolerance toward Catholics after the Council of Florence. This intolerance was repeated with the forced union of Catholics with the Russian Orthodox Church under Stalin and the Russian Orthodox Church’s resistance to the reestablishment of an independent Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church after the breakup of the Soviet Union. Religious tolerance is a two-way street.
