Weed is not just highly taxed it is also, in many states, very tightly regulated. Everything from the seedling to the plant flower to the packaging/processing to the distribution to the retail is bar-coded, tagged and tracked. If you bought weed in a California dispensary, they know you bought it, who you bought it from, when it was delivered, who delivered it, who packaged it, who processed it, who grew it, and when and where it was planted.

That is why it is more expensive than cabbage.
