That’s the hallmark of a pathological liar, they lie oftentimes in situations where it would be easier to simply tell the truth.
It over time becomes their “comfort zone” so they just out of sheer habit and mental easement lie constantly about everything ranging from the very serious to the most benign things.

If true, it would fix nothing anyway. Biden has reached a point where there is nothing significant left to lie about so he’s lying about random facts. Tomorrow he will claim to be twenty feet tall and a former NBA superstar.
