An article is the capture of a moment in time seen through one pair of eyes, with an agenda.
Trump made a commitment and carried it out. No one else. DeSantis’ soundbites applied no pressure on Trump, had no impact of the actual process and not one iota of credit is due him for the moving of the Embassy. Talk is cheap.

Republicans politicians had been “pushing” to move the embassy to Jerusalem for years. It was an easy, no-risk stance for them to take, because it’s something their base strongly supported. They would urge whoever was President at the time, to move it - never expecting it to actually get done. To suggest that DeSantis’s comments at the time played any role in causing Trump to make the move stretches credulity.
As far as hubris is concerned, this ranks right up there with Al Gore claiming credit for the internet.

Good catch.
2017
Rep. Ron DeSantis (R., Fla.), the committee’s chairman, visited potential sites for the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem during a March visit, and told the Free Beacon on Tuesday that the ongoing refusal to relocate the embassy is damaging U.S.-Israel relations.
“Moving the American embassy to Jerusalem is long overdue,” DeSantis said. “It is absurd that Israel is the only nation in the world where our embassy is not located in the nation’s capital city. This is no way to treat an ally, much less one of our closest allies.”

Wow. Facts. What a concept. Trump keeps trying to run from his record. It won’t work.

DeSantis is unfortunately doing long term damage to himself with this ill advised attempt to displace Trump.

I’m just curios Ron. How much heat did you take for Trump
moving our embassy to Jerusalem? I don’t think you took any
heat at all. Trump was criticized for planning to do it.
He was criticized when he did it. He’s been criticized
since. He stuck his neck out and did what he promised he’d
do. What did you do?
When I’ve been in the stands at Dodger games, close enough
to yell to players good naturedly to get a hit, should I
then say I was the one that urged them to do it?
Trump had planned to do it for some time. He did it.
No guy from the peanut gallery gets any credit for that
one.

What did he make sure Pfizer n Moderna have vaxxed Israel out of existence.
Trump is the vax prez, billions upon billions to big pharma. Ron can’t claim that.

What did he make sure Pfizer n Moderna have vaxxed Israel out of existence. Neither Trump nor DeSantis had anything to do with vaxxing Israel. That was Israel's decision.
There were even admiring articles in 2020 and 2021 about how the Mossad was pulling strings throughout the world to get ventilators (2020) and vaxes (2021) to Israel, ASAP.
Lots of nations forced vaxes on their citizens. Each nation bears the blame for its own actions. Can't blame Trump or DeSantis for the domestic health policies of Israel, New Zealand, Australia, etc.

The day DeSantis was re-elected was a sad day for me, even though I had just finished volunteering my time and energies for that very outcome!
Even as we were packing up our tent and congratulating ourselves for all the hard work, one of our local Republican honchos drove up and gleefully told us that Ron was running for President.
I must still be naive at my advanced age because I was stunned!
I argued with him…..especially about how divisive this would be…..( as those of us there were Trump people all the way, or so I thought)
I left in disgust!
And DeSantis from that day forward has fulfilled MR.Honcho’s assurance !
I am disgusted with him, and I never want him for President.

Do you mean Newsweek favors Trump?
It’s DeSantis. Yesterday he clocked in at 16 vs Trump at 80. Same as Biden in 2020

“I daresay Jared Kushner had more to do with that than DeSantis.”
I don’t like Kushner at all, but he probably had more to do with the guts of the deal than even Trump did. Trump had the power and position to make it happen.

Yes. Words matter. Kind of weasel-y on his part.
I was about 90% in favor of RD in ‘28, but now he’s displaying character issues. Whether it’s from his heart or from handlers it doesn’t matter. At some point you’ve just got to make a decision about what comes out of your mouth.

This should be embarrassing, even for a seriously self-centered politician so filled with hubris and visions of grandeur that he cannot see anything except his own magnanimity. Alas, for the Narcissus Top Gov and the branding organization behind him, no scale of hubris exclaimed is excessive enough.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was in Israel Thursday, doing the obligatory indulgency tour all Republican presidential candidates must undertake before they officially announce. During his pre-planned events, DeSantis took credit for moving the U.S-Israel embassy to Jerusalem.
[…] DeSantis presented the Trump administration’s decision to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem as his own achievement, saying he worked to “cajole” the former president to make the move. He didn’t mention former President Trump by name. (link)
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis had no independent source of wealth, prior to this 2024 endeavor and collaborative operation. Together with the multinational financing operation around him, in combination with the Murdoch book deal and advance payment, the $300k Governor is now worth millions. Funny how that happens. It’s no wonder Casey is tiara shopping while Florida residents are crushed by skyrocketing housing, insurance, taxes, energy and other unavoidable costs of living.

I’m not a DeSantis hater like plenty here but apparently he was an attorney in the military.....so was Lindsey Graham. Not good optics in the view of many.

Right. I remember the day Trump ordered U.S. troops to invade Israel, fully armed with syringes, and forcing every resident to be injected. That was the day after he mandated you to get a clot shot.
Oh wait... that never happened.
