I agree! But, as I said, I shouldn’t complain too loudly! The funniest ones are the kids who order and when the order comes the parents didn’t have a clue...!
Yeah, you can do Uber Eats, Grub Hub, etc. They just don’t like you doing it all at the same time, but I know people who “multi-app” during slow periods.
Has no meaning to the rest of the world except libtardism causes ruin
Door dash brings my dog food lol
When I was in the hospital and nursing home, the food sucked for the most part. So I used door dash to order up food. I would have rather chose to starve than eat the food of the hospital and nursing home.
Ordering by door dash though, the food was much more expensive. It would cost me two or three times as much in comparison to going to the restaurants or fast food places in and buying my food in person. The food places increased the prices of their items on the door dash app, there was the delivery fee, the tip for the driver, and the taxes.
Ordering a meal from burger king or a McDonald’s for example, would cost me 30-35 bucks. I once almost ordered a few slices of pizza and a baked ziti dinner from a pizzeria, but seeing the price before checkout, it would have cost me 52 dollars. Naturally I didn’t bother to place that order.
Heck, they record every penny I make now at tax time, LOL! I also have to declare the tips.
I know. I’d never use the service as a customer.
My son and I went to a baseball game last Sunday. We bought one soft drink and a bottle of water — I think it was $15. AND the machine asked if we wanted to add a tip starting at 15%. I think it had 20% and 25% as options, too. I chose 0%. Why should a guy who takes ten seconds to had you two bottles get a tip?
This tipping has gotten completely out of control in the USA.
When I grew up, a tip was to reward good service. My son and girlfriend drive for InstaCart and can make pretty good money, but they do depend on tips. There’s a lot of value added by IC and DD drivers, so they deserve a tip. Especially the IC people because they go into the store and do your shopping for you, then deliver it. But it sure does destroy your car. My son’s Escape has 225,000 miles on it now.
I hear that. I’ve already gone through my Prius and am now working on destroying my pretty little Camry! LOL! But for me, not only is is a way to bring in extra money to supplement Social Security, but it is my way of getting out a bit. I am caretaker for my 101 year old mom, and a few hours out there doing DD helps keep me sane, as well as making up the gap in income I need. Sometimes, mom comes with me! :-D
Thank you for the question, suthener, and the answer, as well as the assistance you bring to those who need this type of service, freepertoo. People without working vehicles or the ability to drive (or cook or who need a break from cooking) are blessed by you.
“How does the purchaser know the mileage?”
I’ve used the doordash app. Before you make any order, when youre just surfing around, looking for a place to order food from, the app will list the approximate distance each and every place is from your location. “2.5 miles”, “4 miles”, “8.7 miles”, “15.2 miles”, “22 miles”, etc.
The most rewarding part of the job is delivering to people you know can’t get out.
How about that! I didn’t know that.
"The End" is near for NYC and they have nary a clue.
Hard to believe how "stuck on stupid" NYC politicians are.
“Rule of thumb is $1.00 per mile, but Dasher’s really appreciate it when we get $2.00 (a dollar a mile for coming and going). We return to the restaurant areas after a drop-off, and that is usually lost mileage, gas, etc. Good question!”
Thanks.
Until you get on the down side of the Laffer Curve.
Keep a few good frozen pizzas around. Then bang it’s done and much cheaper. I live way out in the sticks so no delivery is an option. Some door dash person would be NO WAY.
Which will essentially make the delivery charge nothing, because there won’t be delivery.
That’s wonderful you are taking care of Mom and she goes with you sometimes, too! What a great way for you to spend some good time together. Bless you!
I’ve seen a lot on delivery guys in Los Angeles doing deliveries on electric scooters.
