Changing the name from socialist, to liberal, to progressive, does not change reality. The fact that they're bold enough to return to the "progressive" moniker says a lot. The reference, as seen in this book excerpt, means the progressive exclusion of political opponents.
The book in question: "The Evolution of Nuclear Strategy" by Freedman and Michaels.
Note also the Communist (government?)-organized "anti-fascism" groups referenced. Yup.
