Based on the context of the ad it is obvious to me the sincere part was support for Trump’s policies. The satirical part was how it was played as a father reading bedtime stories and other activities. The ad was satirizing how the Democrats/RINOs/and that lot view Trump’s supporters. Enthralled Rednecks parroting Trump’s promises and indoctrinating their children. If you notice the Guardian heading under the ad reads just that.

Time for the old man to move on.

Ron DeSantis will never be POTUS.

Can’t get more proof than that; he’s a phony POS! Thought if Trump didn’t get the nomination I’d go with DeS, now no way!

Maybe not, but neither will Trump.

Too much hatred for him, being an easy target.

“Why now, just before he announced his run for the Presidency? I already know the answer to those questions, so don’t bother trying to defend him or anyone else.”

Well, your answer is wrong, he’s been at the forefront of fighting illegal immigration for many years and highlighted the problem by sending illegals to Martha’s Vineyard and other places.

Here’s what he’s been doing since the Obama administration. (from wikipedia)

“DeSantis was a critic of Obama’s immigration policies; he opposed Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Deferred Action for Parents of Americans (DAPA) and accused Obama of failing to enforce immigration laws.[144][145] DeSantis has sought to ban “sanctuary cities”.[146] He is a co-sponsor of the Establishing Mandatory Minimums for Illegal Reentry Act of 2015, also known as Kate’s Law, which would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to increase penalties applicable to aliens who unlawfully reenter the United States after being removed.[147] DeSantis spoke at ACT! for America, an anti-Muslim advocacy group designated as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Center for American Progress, in 2017.[148]

After the November 2015 Paris attacks, DeSantis “called for urgent recognition that Islamic extremism is to blame for the Paris attacks and should be seen as an enemy for America”. He has said, “The enemy is an ideology rooted in militant Islam” and that ISIS must be stopped and its members kept away from America.[149] Of U.S. policy toward refugees, DeSantis said, “the prudent policy is to err on the side of protecting the American people”.[150]

DeSantis encouraged Florida sheriffs to cooperate with the federal government on immigration-related issues.[151] In June 2019, he signed an anti-”sanctuary city” bill in law; the legislation required law enforcement “to honor U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainers for undocumented immigrants who are arrested or convicted” of crimes. There were no sanctuary cities in Florida before the law’s enactment, and immigration advocates called the bill politically motivated.[152][153][154][155] Florida became the 12th state to adopt legislation requiring local governments to aid federal immigration-enforcement efforts.[156] In June 2020, DeSantis signed a bill requiring government employers and private companies that contract with the government to use E-Verify.[157][158][159] He had originally called for all employers to be required to use it.[160]

DeSantis’ administration destined $12 million for relocating migrants to other states, and by 2022 he considered busing undocumented immigrants to Joe Biden’s home state, Delaware, for almost a year. However, on September 7, 2022, he stated that neither Cubans nor Venezuelans would be sent out of the state. On September 15, DeSantis sent two charter planes with undocumented immigrants (mostly Venezuelans, at least 50) to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Attorneys representing them declared that they were lied to, being promised jobs and housing.[161][162]”

Hope this helps clarify your thinking.

“Why did he have to sign a new law? Aren’t there enough already on the books he can enforce?”

Because the laws you’re talking about are federal laws that the only the feds can enforce, not state laws. Also with Title 42 ending and more illegals coming in he wanted stronger laws for the state.

If you think for a microsecond that he is pro illegals or open borders, you’re delusional.

"Because the laws you’re talking about are federal laws that the only the feds can enforce, not state laws."

That still doesn't answer my question as to why none of the other Republican Governors before him didn't bother to push legislation to eliminate the influx of illegal aliens? I know Crist is a slime ball Rino turned Democrat, and Bush is an illegal alien lover, but where was the State Legislature all those years? Or was it Democrat controlled?

I know Florida had a very bad reputation of allowing voter fraud to exist in at least two counties Broward and Miami-Dade. Those two counties were expressly involved in the 2000 hanging chad fiasco. Palm Beach, Volusia, Miami-Dade, and Broward were the counties Gore had hand-picked for his recount scheme.

When Rick Scott ran against Democrat Bill Nelson for the Senate, Brenda Snipes, Broward County Supervisor of Elections dragged her feet to produce the final vote tally for the race. It wasn't anything new with her. She'd done it repeatedly in the past. In the aftermath of the delay, Rick Scott suspended and fired Brenda Snipes from her position for malfeasance, incompetence, and neglecting her duty. She handed in her resignation, but then withdrew it, and chose to fight in court because she knew a new Governor was coming in. The court found that Scott had overstepped his authority. Despite that, the Judge refused to re-instate her, or allow her to have a State hearing. He left her fate in the hands of the new Governor DeSantis, and DeSantis simply let her re-submit her original resignation, and that was the end of that. She had been a pain in the ass for years with her election shenanigans (one being only hiring black election workers to count the votes), and he let her get off way too easy. I don't know if it was because she's black, or what his reason was, but he took the easy way out.

I'm glad DeSantis has stood up for the people of Florida. Now I want to see him stand up for the people of this country. Actions speak louder than words, and so far, on the national level, Ron is an unknown entity.

Aren’t all 1st term presidents “unknown entities” on a national level? As was Trump. At least you can go by Ron’s conservative, anti-woke policies that he has already displayed and delivered on to Floridians.

That’s more to go on than Trump had to offer back then, which was just “make America great again” promises. Did Trump deliver on that promise? I think so...at least for his first three years before being inflicted with the COVID fiasco. But that was then and this is now. Reality, IOW.

We have to prepare in case the DS left does manage to eliminate Trump from running, which is the whole purpose behind their campaign of destruction against Trump.

"Aren’t all 1st term presidents “unknown entities” on a national level?"

Only if they had dullard Congressional careers like Tim Scott. I'm sure plenty of black people have never heard of him. Most of them don't even know black history, or bother to take the time to learn it. Scott's known more for being a carbon copy of Lindsey Graham, than Presidential candidate material. Everyone knew who Eisenhower was, because he'd been commander of the allied forces during WWII. Everyone knew who Nixon was because he'd been Ike's V.P. for 8 years, and he was famous for losing to Kennedy. I was a teenager when JFK became President. Hadn't heard of him prior to his winning the election.

Everyone knew who Ronald Reagan was, more from his movie career than as Governor, and more folks knew who Trump was for many years, before he put his hat in the ring. I'd never heard of Democrat Howard Dean until he decided to run for President. Never really heard of Obama until Dems skated him out as their half-black candidate. Most of the Governors who have chosen to run, if they didn't bother to make themselves known on the national scene, they were complete strangers. Or if they did make national news, most of them were nincompoops like Gavin Newsom. In today's world with the internet, it's easier to find things out about new people in the political world who crawl out of their holes to run for President, but that isn't always a good thing either. You can't trust what you see or read on the internet. Back in the old days, you either got your news on the radio, the newspaper, or the TV if you could afford to have one. My father was an FDR Democrat his whole life. If he was alive today, he wouldn't recognize the Democrat party, and he certainly wouldn't be one. As it is, I don't recognize the Republican Party of my youth either. It's changed, and not for the best. I changed my party affiliation to no party after January 6th. I don't want to be associated with the Republican Party any more.
