Lefty New York Magazine scribe talks about all the bad things that come to mind when he thinks about DeSantis:

https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/ron-desantis-trumpism.html
[DeSantis’s skepticism of public-health authorities paid economic and political dividends, at least for a while. During the 2020–21 academic year, when most states stuck with remote learning, Florida opened its schools, a position even Democrats belatedly recognized as correct. He has used COVID as a stage to pick successful fights with the media, which has sometimes overreached in its criticism of his pandemic policy. Last year, a 60 Minutes segment accused him of corruption for steering vaccine distribution to the Publix chain of pharmacies, which had donated to his PAC, though many acknowledged the popular outlet was a logical partner for the program. DeSantis deftly used the episode to thrill conservatives with sharp counterpunches against the media. “The whole thing is a big lie,” he fumed, using a PowerPoint presentation to make his case.

But DeSantis’s aggressive COVID politics have also seen him take increasingly extreme positions. Over the past year, DeSantis’s defense of what he calls “freedom over Faucism” — which, in addition to keeping schools open, has involved blocking towns from mandating masks and businesses from requiring vaccines and at one point scolding high-school students for wearing masks at a photo op — has drawn him into the arms of the anti-vaccine movement. He has appeared at a press conference with an anti-vaxxer, suspended a state health official for encouraging his staff to increase their vaccine uptake, and appointed vaccine skeptic Joseph Ladapo to serve as the state’s top health official. (People are “being forced to put something in their bodies that we don’t know all there is to know about yet,” Ladapo claimed. “No matter what people on TV tell you, it’s not true. We’re going to learn more about the safety of these vaccines.”) After confirming he received his first shot last year off-camera, DeSantis has refused to say whether he got a booster.]

"If Trump were competent, that logic would make sense."

If he was incompetent, he would have been impeached for it, and likely convicted by the Senate after both his impeachments. Or Democrat would have used the 25th Amendment against him.

LOL! Out of control madman. He would have been impeached for that too. What a drama queen. Is that you Alyssa Farah Griffin? Mary Trump? Nancy Pelosi? You sound just like them. Thanks for the laugh.

"In 2016, Trump barely won against the most corrupt and unpopular presidential candidate a party has ever fielded."

Had Democrats realized they needed to cheat more against Trump in 2016, they would have done it. They thought they had it in the bag. So did Hillary.

And Trump didn't lose to a potato. He was re-elected, because Joe Biden didn't get the highest popular vote of any Presidential candidate in the history of this country. It didn't happen. If a Presidential candidate could get that many votes by staying in his basement, and only having to come out periodically to hold rallies with 15 people, the election system would go bust. People would go broke. Every candidate would be doing it. Joe set a record for the most illegal ballots in the history of this country by not having to campaign at all. What-a-guy!!

What are you laughing about? Half of Trump’s positions are liberal, starting with gay marriage, amnesty for DACA, out of control government spending including the Al Gore “lockbox” for social security, federal control of schools, etc, liberals don’t oppose him simply for policy. They oppose him partially for that, but since they agree with Trump on policy in many regards, intellectual liberals oppose him just as much for his crazy unpredictability, which is what they fear.

That’s why they attack him - he’s a loose cannon who says the stupidest things quite often. Watch their shows, that’s all they talk about. Not because he’s a Christian conservative, which he’s clearly not.

It wasn't just Trump that used WinRed, the RNC used it too: Trump campaign and allies refund $122M to WinRed donors: Report

Really? A refund? Those assholes owe me $300 then.

If they use WinRed again they will lose again.

"Really? A refund? Those assholes owe me $300 then."

I've never donated to Trump or any political candidate. I remember seeing articles here and on patriots.win at some point, offering info on how to apply for a refund from RedWin. That's all I can recall, because I'm old, so don't ask me what I had for lunch today.

He hasn't run for re-election. He's been in the Governor's office for 4 years, since 2019. He's still in his first term.

You might want to double check this, my good FRiend.

DeSantis won the governor's race in '18 and was reelected in '22.

He was just sworn in for his second term this past January. He’s still only served one full term. He’s barely into his second term. Six months after he took the oath for his second term, he’s decided he’s going to run for President. Looks like he fooled the people who voted for him last November, because they thought they were voting for a man who had made a commitment to them for another four years.

He’s barely into his second term.

Not trying to play "gotcha", of course, however the above sentence is the correct one.

I'm more concerned about Trumps record and failure to to achieve lasting results to his promises because he the great deal maker was unable to work with the majority he had in congress for two years. If he couldn't achieve anything that wasn't by erasable EO's before why should I expect anything different if he is elected again? Oh, and these billionaire donors that are so distasteful vis-a-vis DeSantis, were they in bad odor when they were shoveling money to Trump?

It's very interesting that DeSantis is being attacked by Trump and the democrats...almost as if both greatly fear him, as if for some reason the democrats would much rather have Trump as the opponent.

Trump keeps attacking DeSantis from the left and using leftist talking points.

Trump was ready to sign an assault weapons ban with Feinstein in his first term because he thought it would make him popular. It was only the disrespect by other Democrats that derailed that because Trump wants to be praised nonstop and will sign anything if he gets praise for it.

Trump has openly said he would refederalize abortion and negotiate a time limit for murdering children that everyone can agree with.

Sorry, I don’t want someone to negotiate my rights away or the rights of the unborn.

Given Trump’s past failures at negotiating legislation, I have ZERO faith that the results would be anything but a setback for conservatism (which Trump despises).

Trump on foreign policy is great.

Trump domestic policy, spending and social issues -— Democrat lite

Really? I live in Florida. I don’t know one person who had that concern. Everyone I knew expected him to run and didn’t care if he finished. They were proud of his first 4 years, realized he accomplished things from the get go - replacing county voting supervisors - and were willing to let him move up.

Wow. Millions of people died of covid. The entire country shutdown. The world shut down. They did so on the US Federal Government, administered by Trump, in conjunction with Fauci and other health Drs, and the best knowledge of the time. Some proposals seemed dumb at the time and many look ridiculous in retrospect. Trump to this day claims ownership of the Vax but where are his therapeutics? He never found them. He never even built his wall - but that oversite is another problem and another failed promise that he never intended to accomplish.

Trump doesn’t claim to be the reason we got a Vaccine. He is the reason, it’s just a fact and in the context of what was happening it’s good he was able to get it done...He got ventilators for the same reason, all the “experts” said it was critical and they needed it right away. Trump is a doer. There is nothing wrong with having options and Trump allowed for many different approaches during thr “pandemic”. Mandating was always the problem and Trump mandated nothing. Trying to tie Trump with Biden policies is ridiculous.

Those are your words. Most of us just see him as an ambitious, over-rated career politician, beholden to his donors and ready to re-invent himself whenever he sees political advantage in doing so.
