The point of this is to show that the documents were not secured until a day before they came to the door.
Trump said they were secured all along.
The issue here is the Espionage Act. Some of the documents dealt with sensitive issues. Their classification is irrelevant. It’s what they were bout that matters—certain categories are not supposed to be removed from their original location.
But, Trump has confused the issue with his blustery “But I am Trump” arguments. This is the case where he has some liability.
If a jury believes this “custodian” it would mean someone lied to the Federal Agents. That’s not good.
I think you are missing the point.
Trump pointed to this secure room and said, ( in essence) “This is the secure room where they have been kept.”
If this guy’s story is true, Trump misled the Federal Agents. Intentionally.

Damn! I just saw my neighbor move some boxes out of his garage. I don’t know what is in them but I find that act to be VERY SUSPICIOUS. To whom should this be reported?

Yeah. That’s not what the story is. The story was generated by the lawyer of the guy asked to help move the boxes. “Custodian” was my term—but the mist of it is that he was a low level worker.
