Thiis a lot more than “conservative backlash”. Making fun of Bud Light is a new pastime for all sorts of people. Let’s face it - 99.99% of people are not transgender, and privately think it’s weird.

NOBODY is drinking Bud Light in public any more and if they had a Bud Light promotional T shirt - it’s been tossed in the trash bin.

IF the consumers were smart, they would boycott ALL AB brands of beer. It’s just a few clicks of the mouse.

Thanks Doodlebob - I didn’t know that.

I would only disagree with you about “ouzo” — phew, the smell of aniseed... to me, no

Bud Lite is on life support and AB/In Bev would be better off killing the brand as it is now eroding the sales of other AB products and bolstering the competition. When the Bud Lite name is no longer a running joke, AB could bring out a new product aimed at the old Bud Lite market and attempt to recapture those lost sales. However, I think the damage has been done and AB may never recover from this fiasco. Bud Lite Marketing VP, Alissa Heinerscheid, will however go down in the annals of marketing as the person who single handedly killed the top selling brand in the USA.

InBev will survive this. They have so many brands that they can get rid of Bud Light and shift production to another brand.

Actually, the “bake the cake” thing doesn’t apply. There’s case law against that, dating to the “Coke or Pepsi product exclusive” in restaurants and stores. Merchants selling to the public can’t deny sales, but they’re not required to carry a specific branded product unless the state mandates it.

Other AB brands are suffering as well to various degrees. This is part of why their stock price is tumbling off a cliff.

“There’s case law...”

LOL! I’m not disputing what you say, but I doubt Democrat judges would take that into account.

They’re not going to do that because doing so would mean that their favorite stores would be required to stock evangelical materials or be sued. Pre-made goods are completely different from made to order.

Bud Lite is less than 2% of sa;es. From what I read in the WSJ days ago InBev the parent picked up sales to offset in some of their other brands.

The Wall Street Journal continues to spread their propaganda. Bud Light was the top selling beer in the United States but is somehow less than 2% of sales?

In 2020, Bud Light accounted for 17.8% of the total unit sales, and 9.4% of volume sales.

A decade ago, Bud Light outsold both Budweiser and Coors Light combined by a significant margin.

Every inch of shelf space is valuable. Once lost, it’s a fight to take it back from others.

That's an excellent point. Retail shelf space is hyper-competitive and even the smallest liquor stores in my area have sales reps constantly going in there to pitch the owner on this or that product and negotiating where it is placed on the shelves.

This is also why you see so much "product extension", where brands are constantly coming out with new flavors of the same product. This is an attempt to hold on to precious shelf space when the primary product might be flagging. Hence, Truly Hard Seltzer for example, now comes in blackberry, margarita, fruit punch, and pineapple, among many other flavors.

You see it in supermarkets too. The original Fig Newton now comes in various flavors and configurations. I saw recently "whole wheat" Fig Newtons!

All of these so-called Lite beers are animal liquid products anyway.

Bud Light was the best selling beer in America*. That's a huge loss to the company. Sure, they can shift 'production' to another brand, but if it doesn't sell, that doesn't help.

* I have no idea why such a crappy 'beer' was the best selling beer, but that doesn't change the fact that it was.

Don't worry; she will get offers to teach at Harvard, Stanford, Georgetown or UPenn/Wharton schools of business.
