Bacon is *loaded* with the flavor umami, aka savory. Far more than most foods.
Vegetarians, in particular, lack savory in their diet, which is why bacon is the one thing that tempts them to break their diet.
Just say "HELL NO!" to such interest groups.

LOL! Had a little Spanish Drill Sergeant in Basic training, 1991, that used to say that! He was hilarious and would be rubbing it in that he was going home and night and “making’ bacon”.
