I factor in bureaucratic turf
The navy is DOD
The Coast Guard is Homeland security
Questions are being asked about where is all the money coming from. My answer is that is not an issue because all are doing what they normally do anyway.
I was thinking the same thing. A really fine movie.
I am not a boat person, but it looks to me like there is a scuff mark or potential hull damage just above the waterline. The photo resolution isn’t high enough to see what is going on..
And, do we know if this is the only boat the group owns?
Was it used in conjunction with the fatal dive in any capacity?
The primary deception of all media is the pretense that they know what is going on.
end of August 2021 was when the withdrawl happened

please refer to where you get May from.
Tragic boating accident?
“Most of it consists of editorializing or clickbait.”
you mean when foxnews has headline articles such as
“Shootings up over 83% in this democrat run major city”
?
The talk about the victims tapping on the shell of the “submarine” every half hour reminded me of that old One Step Beyond episode “The Haunted U-Boat”.
There has been a bunch of different reports as to how many dives were made to the Titanic. This article suggest 13 successful dives.
“Now Rush has 13 Titanic dives under his belt: six in 2021, and seven in 2022. The plan calls for making return visits every year to document the ship’s deterioration — and document the deep-sea ecosystem surrounding the wreck.”
“ The nearly universal howls for regulation/safety etc.....did not seem apolitical to me.”
Me either. My head just about exploded, no pun intended, when I walked by a TV in a customer’s home and I saw a taped interview with the deceased Ocean Gate CEO Stockton Rush talking about not hiring experienced 50 year old ex-submariners because they were not “inspirational” and professed the virtues of DEI, in his case and for all practical examples it should be called D-I-E.
Everybody is starting to say the guy was reckless. The Discovery Channel Explorer Filmmaker Josh Gates backed out of filming an episode on that “sub” because he felt it was unsafe for his crew. I will bet, there was a lot of payola handed out to get the so-called government regulators to wink, wink, nod, nod and look the other way concerning safety concerns.
The dude was a insane Washington State huckster and I hope when the civil lawsuits start coming, they can get the bureaucrats here in Washington and elsewhere who helped this fool kill a group of innocents and cost the taxpayers tons of money on a search that they knew was a salvage expedition since last Sunday.
As a 45 year Washington State resident and boat owner, I know EXACTLY what you mean with the photo.
“ It’s a BAYLINER! Egads, they bought the Yugo of boats”
Bingo.
Also, Bayliner was started by ex-Boeing guys who were let go when the Boeing SST program went bust and Boeing was shedding employees like a mangy dog looses fur. There was even a billboard down by Boeing Field that said, When the last person leaves Seattle, please turn out the lights.
It's a Bayliner - notoriously cheap boats.
As for the article: a media organization criticizing the media for gaming an event begs the question, why didn't Frontline run a story earlier?
“Dirty Laundry”
I make my living off the evening news
Just give me something
Something I can use
People love it when you lose
They love dirty laundry
Well, I coulda been an actor
But I wound up here
I just have to look good
I don’t have to be clear
Come and whisper in my ear
Give us dirty laundry
Kick ‘em when they’re up
Kick ‘em when they’re down
Kick ‘em when they’re up
Kick ‘em when they’re down
Kick ‘em when they’re up
Kick ‘em when they’re down
Kick ‘em when they’re up
Kick ‘em all around
We got the bubble headed
Bleached blonde
Comes on at five
She can tell you ‘bout the plane crash
With a gleam in her eye
It’s interesting when people die
Give us dirty laundry
Can we film the operation
Is the head dead yet
You know the boys in the newsroom
Got a running bet
Get the widow on the set
We need dirty laundry
You don’t really need to find out
What’s going on
You don’t really want to know
Just how far it’s gone
Just leave well enough alone
Eat your dirty laundry
Kick ‘em when they’re up
Kick ‘em when they’re down
Kick ‘em when they’re up
Kick ‘em when they’re down
Kick ‘em when they’re up
Kick ‘em when they’re down
Kick ‘em when they’re stiff
Kick ‘em all around
(Kick ‘em when they’re up)
(Kick ‘em when they’re down)
(Kick ‘em when they’re up)
(Kick ‘em when they’re down)
(Kick ‘em when they’re up)
(Kick ‘em when they’re down)
(Kick ‘em when they’re stiff)
(Kick ‘em all around)
Dirty little secrets
Dirty little lies
We got our dirty little fingers
In everybody’s pie
We love to cut you down to size
We love dirty laundry
We can do the innuendo
We can dance and sing
When it’s said and done
We haven’t told you a thing
We all know that crap is king
Give us dirty laundry
I thought it was referring to the carbon tubes just sitting out in the open. Sun, cold, rain, etc. you’d think they’d have them secured inside a climate controlled environment.
Bayliners are fine boats, for the price. Can you get better? Sure, but it’s going to cost more. Like everything in life.
Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers?
The hulls are crappy. They have to be trailered in a nest style trailer rather than roller trailers because the rollers could crack or puncture the hull. Oh, the irony.
Bayliner has a reputation for using cheap materials and cutting corners
