At best, nothing, at worst, ran and hid, instead of actually trying to find an confronting the gunman.
Hey, he probably at least radio in that he was outside while the kids are getting murdered, right?
Maybe he could be their next chief, that one get forced to resign. Then you take lessons from the officers who responded to the the tranny. They took a couple seconds, formed a quick plan based on the Intel they had from the staff member outside, took the keys from them and went in, and methodically searched until they found was/were.
Bingo
Well, if they protect the state, or the city/county/municipality - then they are still protecting something - albeit maybe not the something you assumed that phrase meant.
I think it’s more about what he didn’t do.
“Don’t many cop cars have “to protect and serve” painted on them?
They need to be charged with fraud then.”
Notice they never said “To Protect and Serve The People”? They mean “To Protect and Serve THE STATE”.
Left children to bleed out while they called on their phone to please come save them.
Per long standing court precedent. The police do not owe persons a duty of care.
Would have been nice if they hadn’t handcuffed and arrested parents trying to save their children’s lives.
It ain’t you they are serving. it ain’t you they are protecting.
I don’t remember that at Parkland. I do remember it at Uvalde.
Hopefully he will feed a hungry alligator. Or rip a bed sheet.
Contrast him to the two Tennessee Policemen who took down the active shooter and saved countless lives. The children in Florida died in fear and agony as they felt the life draining from their wounds. While this thing did what he did [posting rules forbid describing what he was doing] If he had any decency he would rip a bed sheet tonight.
They were brave then.
“ What did he do again?”
Literally nothing
The courts and system are just wrong;it should be implicit that police are to protect the innocent and confront/neutralize attackers.
If he had a pistol he could have at least tried to stop the killing.
Should claw back his salary and retirement for fraud. Was hired to protect the children not play hide and seek.
I've been thinking about this and processing what I've heard about it. To me, it comes down to this.
This was just some poor shlub (school resource officer) who woke up one morning to go to work having no idea that he would be the sole soldier on the front-line of a terror attack.
We now know that so many others in the line of authority failed to do their jobs before it descended on this guy on that day. The FBI knew of the shooter and did nothing; the Broward County Sheriff knew of the shooter and did nothing. If any of those law enforcement agencies had followed the red flags and done their jobs, it wouldn't have fallen on Peterson's shoulders.
In that sense, Peterson has become the fall-guy for the failures of the people whose jobs were more responsible for allowing what happened at that school to happen. Peterson was the guy who didn't put his finger in the dyke being blamed for the flood that followed when the town knew that the dam was being threatened by a prior known danger.
