I paid for my first degree in Geology by working on a drilling rig as a roughneck during the summers. My second degree years later was paid by selling my house and airplane and going back to school to become a pharmacist. I did take a student loan as I was broke for the last year of pharmacy school. I paid it back in full. I paid it off early. When enrolled in pharmacy school I also taught as a flight instructor. I studied, I worked, took tests, slept and repeated as needed until graduation. I have no sympathy for those that took majors that did not insure them with a high paying job. You signed the loan papers as did I. Pay them as did I.
It should be noted that I took degree courses that would insure me a high paying job upon graduation. If you can not do math, chem, physics, botany, physiology, etc. perhaps you should work at Burger King.
The first, and last, UT-Martin (where he gradumacated in BS, literally) affirmative action pimp to slide through Yale Law.

Maybe because I’m not a raving idiot democrat I don’t understand the politics of this moving this debt to the taxpayers. How many people are there with student loan debt? Compare that to how many people didn’t go to college or paid their own way? Chances are the indebted darlings are so brainwashed they would vote for Hitler if he had a “D” next to his name. How many of the people who took out no debt or didn’t go to college are going to be swayed to vote for democrats now that THEY are on the hook for the debts. How many would be so ticked off that they switch votes to the republican?

Yes. I understand. But what votes are to be gained vs lost? It is a good bet that every one with student loans was indoctrinated to vote dem no matter what. So what votes are there to buy? And how many will be so pissed off that they won’t vote for a democrat because don’t have any debt.
