"financed through US military aid, according to the Israeli military". I assume this means the US is buying these jets from Lockheed Martin and then giving them to Israel. Buy why? Israel is a rich nation, can't they afford to support their military?
That’s what I’d like to know!
Are we making enough in interest to help pay down the debt? Maybe charge them 13.99% or whatever the average taxpayer pays for interest?
Wait a minute, I thought we were out of military gear....
mutual benefit...goal...hold off iran
I’d love to see foreign and military aid negotiated as part of a treaty, as opposed to just flinging money and equipment at foreign countries.
More US tax money supporting a foreign power. This is theft.
Israel isnt “buying” them, we are giving it to them through “aid”, likely with some kickbacks and laundering for CONgress too.
“Buy why?”
So Israel can take care of the Iranian U235 problem.
America is the world’s number one exporter of weaponry. We are overflowing with military gear. And that is good news.
Don’t worry they’ll be giving cash to the Palestinian to buy equipment from Iran.
BS, they've got nukes and delivery systems...
“Israel will buy its third fleet of F-35 stealth fighter jets in a deal worth $3bn that will be financed through US military aid, according to the Israeli military.”
That’s part of the lead in. I have not read the article but based on that sentence alone I’m not coming up with the idea that is prevalent on this thread.
It might behoove those with what I perceive to be a very skeptical view to provide further light and knowledge if you disagree with what appears in the first sentence. All that knowing the article is from “no author” and on top of that Al Jazeera the publisher.
With that said, I’m betting the whole story is chump change when compared with the bottomless pit called Yew crane.
Eisenhower: Beware the military-industrial complex.
I’m against ALL Foriegn Aid. But since we are doing it Israel should get it first.
The $3 billion is part of the 1977 Camp David accords, which Jimmy Carter signed, and which commits equal amounts to both Israel and Egypt. 90% of the money goes towards U.S. defense contractors each and every year - going on 5 decades now.
We are not overflowing. We are having much of our conventional stockpiles of conventional arms eradicated giving it all to Ukraine.
No one is ramping up production of howitzers or tanks or anything large to replace what we’ve given to Ukraine. Lots of shoulder launched missiles we are running low on. HIMARS and such.
“ I assume this means the US is buying these jets from Lockheed Martin and then giving them to Israel. Buy why? Israel is a rich nation, can’t they afford to support their military? ”
Because Israel rips the technology out, puts in their own systems and after testing it in combat, hands the technology back to Lockheed. Lockheed then builds and sells the upgrades to their other customers. Israel gets free planes, Lockheed sells planes and upgrades and the US Allies upgrade their own Air Force. Global Trade Controls are a great thing.
You can’t keep a good Anti-Semite down.
