I think this is the real issue. The other side of the coin is that most Americans will choose price over American labor, so the farms are stuck between a rock and a hard place.
“...so that jobs do not have to be seasonal or temporary...”
So they will come and bring their wives and spit out 10 anchor babies. Eventually, those anchor babies will vote to increase farm wages, or (more likely) no longer want to work those menial farm jobs, forcing Big Agriculture to bring in even more foreigners.
Where will they house these people? It will convert rural red states to communist blue states.
Insanity, total insanity what the GOP is doing.
This just ensures the Empire collapse is coming much sooner. If you’re near retirement, I recommend you take social security payments as soon as possible. The system won’t be available much longer.
The author of this article fails to give names of the Republicans who sponsored this legislation. Like too many articles from conservative sources, it substitutes rhetoric for details.
“Like the H-2A visa program, the H-2B visa program has long been documented for its history of displacing blue-collar Americans from their jobs and lowering wages.”
I beg to differ with this comment, we cannot hire anyone who stays long enough to actually gain all the skills required to do all the jobs here: drive tractor, calibrate pesticide spayers, harvest berries without jamming them, hook up implements, sucker tomatoes, on and on and on. The biggest lie about H2A is that are unskilled. And we have to lay everyone off for the winter. Fun fact, they have to pay income tax on their $17/hour pay plus housing, though no voting for them. Grrr
Well, I am fed up with Republicans anyway. We need a new party. We need to start our own. They do not like us anyway. Time for a divorce.
Seriously, why bother voting anymore?
All jobs US workers will not do because they do want to do the work and can't pass background check or a drug test.
They don’t have kids with them.
They come here , work and return home.
My company has hired H2B workers before.
They all returned to their country of origin.
Well, the other day the neighbor had their roof replaced.
He came over to me to complain he couldn’t talk to them. They didn’t seem to speak english. LOL.
Roofers...just doing the job Americans won’t do. Some politician back in the 1990’s said that if I recall correctly. In this age of the Great Resignation, Quiet Quitting, and massive welfare handouts to those who refuse to work because it is not a living wage your attitude is part of the problem. I look at those folks as one’s who refuse to make America great.
Working class immigrants? I find it hard to fault them for coming here or for our congress to recognize the need for them. Flame away all you want, but America has always been the land of the working and productive immigrant.
The criminals and lazy bums should be deported.
“jobs that Americans won’t do” Bump.
Pay more then Amercans will pick.
Capitalism's achillies heal is that it is very efficient at impoverishing the least skilled workers and creating an underclass that eventually overthrows the capitalist system.
The Ops article is total crap. And feeds the ignorant.
The idea that many think you can hire domestic felony free labors , that can pass a drug test to do seasonal work is
Unbelievable.
They have zero knowledge of the state of the current workforce in the US and instead complain about companies using foreign labors is telling .
BS, We buy apples 3,4,6 at a time at the store. The labor we pay as consumers for each apple is maybe 1 cent. Pay Americans and the labor doubles to a whooping 2 cents. It is all such BS.
SMH
You are the idiot that has zero knowledge of the current state of seasonal labors .
But MTG sold out and voted for Kevin and Joe’s debt limit bill. Looks like she’s taken her position in the Uniparty to me.
Hire Americans or get a real job farm girl. I’d rather import food from overseas than import their population of low IQ squat labor force just to please the greedy Ag industry.
2 cent more is not going to solve the labor issue.
I have repeatly showed you why it is not a pay issue for seasonal jobs.
