“Death Valley”
“Furnace Creek”
But it’s hot!!
“record warm summer that is baking nearly the entire globe by flirting with some of the hottest temperatures ever recorded, meteorologists said.”
See how they do that? “Nearly the entire Globe”
Big statement. But if your own little slice of the globe isn’t warmer they have that covered. Cause I didn’t say “they entire globe”.
Here in Central Alabama it has been not as warm as usual. How do I know? Because I have been living here all my life! That’s why.
We haven’t had a temp over 90 yet. I saw a weather report a couple of days ago for my area. Temp 89 degrees. Heat index 108! I’m calling Bull. But my wife duly reported that “its 108 today!”
Anyone else notice they have stopped claiming “Average temperatures” and started desperately hunting down that one anomaly to try and prove their claim?
Those are completely cool.
Every once in awhile ya pull the cord out and let it pull back to re-wet the media. And every fuel stop ya top up the water.
OEM units in decent shape fetch $1500.
As a teenager, I lived in Barstow. The Marine Supply Base had a horse stable and I worked as an outrider taking tours up to Calico. Sooooo hot, but come 8pm, the most beautiful cool nights and skys in the world.
Yep, dry cool nights.
I lived in the mountains in Western NM at 6500 feet for most of my 14 years in NM.
Natures air conditioning worked great. Every night cool air form 9,000 foot peaks made nights nice.
You really did not need air conditioning most of the year.
“a record warm summer that is baking nearly the entire globe”
A couple of weeks ago we saw a story about snow in South Africa. First time in 10 years. Guess that didn’t count for much.
“Every once in awhile ya pull the cord out and let it pull back to re-wet the media. And every fuel stop ya top up the water.”
Yep, and you have to crack a back window on the opposite side, or the driver’s wind wing to let the hot air out and have flow through.
They don’t work too well in humid climates though... :)
‘Pure magic’: snow falls on Johannesburg for first time in 11 years
Residents of the South African city delight in rare snow day caused by a surge in humidity and cold temperatures
They report the heat is global as it snows in south africa
Yep, when it is hotter on one side of the planet it is colder on the other side. It is symbiotic.
I’ve thought about getting one, but 1963 is a little late to still be running one, and — as I noted, before — prices are a bit steep; for that kind of money I could install aftermarket A/C.
THE dry heat-—no humidity is what I am sitting in right now....111 degrees in shade & 5% humidity.
I would make one. But like I mentioned they don’t cool anymore when the humidity comes up. Great in the desert, but worthless elsewhere.
They used to sell addon AC units that mounted under the dash. Fab brackets for the Compressor and you are good to go. :)
From my perch in the midwest we have had 3 record high July days since 2000 and 11 record low days in the same period. Ice age coming?
It’s been hotter than 134° in Kuwait. It also hit 134° in Djibouti.
