Brought home a 13 July 1936 newspaper from a Minnesota family reunion last weekend. The headline: “NEW HEAT RECORD SET FOR DULUTH, 102.2”.

Yeah, I remember it was a hot day that day my tribe crossed the Bering Strait - we were in a bind because the U-Haul trailer had slipped a skid (wheels didn't get invented until next year) and the mastodon in harness (we hadn't domesticated oxen yet) were getting cranky as all git out. "Ilhan," I sez, "how about untangling from yer brother and giving us a hand out here? Or, like, get a room at the next Motel 1?" "Too busy taking the temperature, Drill," she sez and I hear giggling in the background. "Someday science will thank me."
