I've always figured it would be something like that, but the terror of breathing in large amounts of water couldn't be pleasant. Did you try to breathe before you passed out? Glad you made it.
Don’t they have thinner ones nowadays? Big wave surfers have them under or built into their wetsuits. They all wear them at Nazare, Portugal which might be the biggest surfable wave in the world. Google Portugal waves and be astounded.
Just wow.
Arkanicide
I want this to take that halo right off of his head for the left.
I realized I was screwed very shortly after the wave sent the kayak flying and I was in the water. There was some desperation, but I remained cognizant that panic is lethal out there. Got a lot of breathing done out there, but I aspirated a lot of water too. At one point I was swimming out to sea, just because I was getting battered by waves. But I was aware I couldnt stay above water and there was no life flashing before my eyes or anything, Probably because I was just trying to survive.
The salt water wreaks havoc on your lungs too. Took me 3 months or so of hacking up crap before I could run like before (at 50, I am no great runner, but I stumblejog OK). AS a side note, if you ever want a free drink, show up at a beach bar wearing only a bathing suit and a hospital gown. People will offer you free drinks, unfortunately all I wanted after I got out of the hospital was water lol.
