I guess they could make special slots on the ship for electric cars, from which they can be ejected into the sea in case of fire. But that will raise the transport costs.

An EV trebuchet! I would probably pay to see that in operation, especially at night.

You better garage your car because the continuous salt environment will eat it up. Problems with combustible EVs are going to be worse.

Makes sense. I live a couple miles over a hill from Pacifica south of San Francisco. When visiting Pacifica I see lots of parked cars that have body rot from the salt water environment. Also, I recently watched a YouTube video of a guy that bought a battery pack from an EV, where the EV was damaged in an accident. He had hoped to swap the battery pack into his old EV, but found the battery pack external casing had rust and the internals got compromised. Total loss, as the pack wouldn't work in his car after he installed it.

So, EV's need to be inspected after years on the road, to make sure the battery packs are being compromised by salt water and resultant rust. It happens to the underbody and most folks wouldn't know about it.

Who manufactured the electric cars?

more importantly, where were the batteries produced?

Seems so. The Daily Mail has a better article with a lot of images:

Seems like both could be extrapolations of Occam’s Razor:

The simplest solution/explanation is more likely to be the correct one.

Was it:

Malice/Conspiracy?

Or:

Stupidity/Human Incompetence?

The choice may lie in the details of the incident/disaster and the generosity/mercy of the person rendering judgement.

Have a side of the transport ship that can be dropped off. Like in a James Bond movie. Each EV is parked near that side, each EV is set up with its own catapult to blow it off the ship. To Davey Jones locker.
