Simple, he lied to them. During the election where he ran for his seat, he had to promise to 1.) Not run against Pres. Trump in 2020 and 2.) Not say bad things about Trump, whom the Utah Mormons had grown to like, in order to get the Mormon vote. He had to go around to the wards and promise. He did so, they voted for him and they all know now that he lied. A Utah Mormon I know said most people think that he is “Evil”.
