“”Bringing in the thieves, bringing in the thieves. We will come rejoicing, bringing in the thieves.””
I like that. Wonder if it is sung in “certain” churches?
Eh no worries just go after Trump that will make everyone in DC feel better
Pretty soon, there won’t be any grocery stores in these neighborhoods. Everyone will have to line up for their weekly grocery rations from the government.
In these areas some of the folks in dire poverty usually zonked out on drugs will just wander in the store and steal some chips or cold cuts or similar food and just start eating it on their way out the door.
It adds to the ambiance of the place.
;-)
I did that years ago. Take about 2-3 weeks off and take a trip down through the south, Carolina’s, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia etc. Lots of small towns with racial harmony, slow life and good people. It is not hard to find such a place.
Drop them off at the local post office the first day of the month. They're not going to need EBT.
I live in a town like that now.
Give them free fentanyl. Problem solved, 6 months tops.
What’s the problem? Sales in the suburban Giants have been covering it. Or is the ‘burb theft and loss of business due to higher prices getting to be too much now?
“Food Desert” = Third world nation neighborhood.
There are people that have convinced themselves that they have an absolute RIGHT to steal whatever they want.
I’ve seen a few in action. I know what it’s like to struggle and do without.
I once saw a box of donuts (small donuts) at a Walmart. Some piggy walked around apparently and ate almost all of them.
Then threw the near-empty box on a shelf.
do-it-yourself reparations.
Why do we have to keep relearning history?
In the aftermath of the Rodney King riots, several food chains were goaded into building grocery stores in various neighborhoods of South Central LA.
Within a few years, ALL of the new stores closed because of chronic shoplifting.
Our politicians have allowed our capital city to deteriorate into a third world dump. Our capital should be moved.
Yes and if you have a business sense about you, you would be amazed at the opportunities you can find. All it takes is a little capital, a good local banker and the real estate deals are everywhere. Not to disparage on the local citizenry, but they just don’t think in terms of buy and sell for a profit.
they got what the voted for, good and hard ... and they’ll keep on getting more and more of it as long as they continue to vote for so-called “progressives”, which no doubt they’ll keep on doing ... ZERO sympathy here ...
Just go back to the old concept of a non-self service store.
You tell a clerk (these days, an app) what you want, and the items are assembled behind a barrier. Your number is called and you go and get your order - pay first, of course.
Basically, a neighborhood food Amazon, with self-pickup.
Wonder whether it would even be more expensive. A lot of the process could be automated. No need to restock shelves all the time. Just a large storage area in the back, with robots doing the work.
We have to keep relearning history, because we are afraid of being called racist, if we don’t build stores in bad areas.
So we do this, to prove that we aren’t racist.
I know how stupid this sounds, but I think that’s why we do this. We are encouraged to “invest” and “support” the community.
Since then, 7News asked Mayor Muriel Bowser and MPD what they are doing to help with the shoplifting issues at grocery stores.
“Mayor Bowser continues to lead conversations with a variety of stakeholders across our city to discuss public safety, and more specifically to ask the question of how we can partner to reduce crime and increase conditions so that everyone in our city can thrive,” the mayor’s office told 7News in a statement. “The District is committed to ensuring every resident has safe access to fresh, healthy and affordable food.”
But it’s unclear what precise actions are being taken by the city to ensure grocery stores in Ward 8 will stay in business.
Food desert? So we can expect the locals to be skinny?
