The canal has a large ocean on each side of it.
I thought climate change predicted the sea level to rise.
But this author is reporting the exact opposite.

I have learned that the average intelligence of Freepers must have dropped precipitously over the 20+ years I have been here.
Good grief! I thought it was common knowledge as to why there are locks on a canal.
I bet people will tell me I am wrong when I say that you must travel from west to east to go from the Atlantic to the Pacific via the Panama Canal.
