Fani Willis just requested a trail date of Oct 23 in Fulton Co., citing defendant Chesebro’s request for a speedy trial.

All this will do is force her to carve out the one trial from all the rest.

She cannot deny the other defendants their rights, including the right to waive a speedy trial. A trial of this magnitude, with this high-profile a list of defendants, and with this vague a set of charges cannot be adequately prepared for in two months.

By doing this, I think she fell for the trap. An appeal will force her to carve out the lone defendant who wants a speedy trial, and once that's done the many others will ask for the same. Since she already set an early October date for the first trial, that date will go to the person who wants the speedy trial.

The next one will have to be a few weeks after that, and then the next one a few more weeks after the last one, and so on and on while the remaining defendants appeal to waive their right to a speedy trial.
