Just say no for now.
Time will pass and 5 years out we might have a normal government.
Bingo
My sister-in-law became a citizen last year. She was NOT required to have a covid vaccine.
My sister-in-law became a citizen last year. She was NOT required to have a covid vaccine. She WAS required to have all the “traditional” vaccines before she could come to the States 9 years ago, which was a good thing, coming from the Philippines.
NONE of us should have been!
Renewal is just sending in a form, we did it once already about 6 years ago. Maybe she will have to become a Coveted Illegal Alien again, How much do you think that pays now?
This disgusts me. Legal immigrants punished.
[Thank you for posting this. I saw it the other day but I stink at creating FR post.]
Also does not prevent
This is happening to legal immigrants not the border walkers
The form used to report vaccinations is I-693 (Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record). This form is NOT required for an application for naturalization (N-400). I just checked the latest version of the requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/attachments.pdf).
Where this form IS required is to obtain a Green Card. This implies that the author still hasn't obtained his Green Card. Although this is a mandatory step to becoming a citizen (even through marriage), it is disingenuous to say that the government requires vaccination to "become a citizen".
All this being said, it is indeed ridiculous that the government requires COVID vaccination in order to become a permanent resident.
When my wife applied (circa 2009), they made her get the first dose of Gardasil (which made her very sick) but they accepted titers for the rest. When her sister applied (circa 2020), there was no COVID requirement. However, the green card application took so long because of the COVID backlog that the I-693 (exam) expired, and she was forced to get a shot when she repeated the I-693 exam to continue the process.
This process has been very politicized over the years anyway. For example, in 2009, I'm pretty sure that AIDS excluded you from becoming a permanent resident. Now, it's "no big deal".
Good idea, but it won’t work. The doctor administering the exam must be a certified ‘Civil Surgeon’. Any old MD just won’t do for the government,
Also, it would be explicitly fraud. Not worth even considering with the way the government treats this stuff.
Thanks for clearing that up I think? In 2006 my wife was only required to get the regular exam no vaccines or anything else. There was nothing on the renewal form in 2018, when we renewed green card and was extremely easy to do. Will have to do some more checking on my own though just to make sure, otherwise she will renew Green Card again in 6 years instead of taking the test.
Thanks for the info.
