The rule is a simple one: I can put my finger in my dogs mouth (the Aussie is mine, there are more lol) and wag it up and down and have him show no interest in biting down and keep smiling.

If I can't do that with your dog, he gets the bear spray and the business end of an 8-iron.

You are already on record was wanting more government control absent an actual crime being committed for the mere act of ownership.

So yes, I am very well informed.

We will never agree on the restrictions of what requirements should be in place for owning a pit.

I’m perfectly comfortable with that.

Just so long as you are aware of the shaky moral high ground and the slippery slope such laws inevitably spawn.

We were about to move way out in the sticks a couple of decades ago and told the insurance agent we were going to get a chow chow.

They told us they would not allow it because chows chows were dangerous for children.

They had other issues with our proposed house purchase as well so we asked them to come and visit the location.

When they got there (in the middle of nowhere—no real neighbors—and we had no kids) I asked the agent “where are the kids that the chow chow could harm”.

He laughed and said—”I get it. You can get the dog. We will insure you.”

We had the chow chow for many years—and he never bit anyone.

That was not because he was a friendly dog—he was ferocious if any stranger approached. It was because we kept him on a leash outside at all times.

We had a half Chow half German Shepherd female. She was very protective of us and would eat up a stranger if they came inside the chain-link fenced yard................

Sometimes do.

Keeping many dangerous animals is already regulated in a similar war. I think it’s time to add pits to that list.

An excellent example of slippery slope and how government mission creep works. “That’s not their job, but let’s have them do MORE of it...” meets up with “well... you put restrictions on this other thing... so why not this too?”

These types of dogs should not be allowed to breed. It is really simple to eliminate them. When found put them down, just as you would a cobra in the suburbs.

With express limits on State power via the Bill of Rights. The Pre-able makes the purpose of the BoR abundantly clear despite over 200 years of lawmakers and litigators chipping away at it...

Exactly like you are advocating btw...

Notice a dog missing?

A dog that people tend to think of as a vicious dog that will tear you apart because of a bunch of dumb movies in the seventies?

Yep.

No Dobermans on the list.

Oh, they will bite, don't get me wrong. But killer dogs? You really have to have gone after their human to get that to happen.

And, in that case, you asked for it.

You walk up to my dog and try to stick your hand in her mouth, especially if her kid (Youngest Daughter) is around, and what happens next will be on you.

And do not, for the love of your skin, try to touch the kid. Stick your hand in Lily the Dog's mouth and she might bite. Touch Youngest Daughter and you will be on the ground.

Probably not dead if you hold still.

My “scary dog breed” has a second bone tumor and time/inevitability is my enemy.
I have no heart or stomach for “evil breed debates” when the only thing I have left is leaving me alone with the endless nightmare my life has become

As long as he is with me I could bear anything.

But now….

:(

Well, based upon your logic & crime statistics all blacks should be euthanized.

That’s not sarcasm.

Pit bulls are one of the most lovable and loyal breeds it’s ever been my pleasure to experience and at the TOP of my list for a family dog - OFF-leash, with NO TRESPASSING signs warning of both guard dogs and rabid/armed owner - when I acquire my next property.
