Canada has given very slightly less than the US, as a % of GDP. Roughly 0.3%. (This is funds committed, not actually sent, which is a lower number for both.)
That said, most US aid is weapons, and a lot of those are older gear long paid for. Canada does not have massive stashes of weapons, so most of its aid is financial “money-out-of-pocket”. Effectively, as a current expenditure, per GDP Canada is sending just as much aid as is the US. Maybe more. Even Switzerland is kicking in ~0.3% (mostly humanitarian aid).

Well you have a point there. Canadian Department of Defence previously requested a NASAMS air defence system. But it was declined as “too expensive”.
But Canada is buying and donating a NASAMS system to Ukraine.
I guess it is like the USA, who can’t be bothered with its own border, but is oh so concerned with the Ukraine border.
