How many other people were carjacked in DC last night? Did they make the news as well? I realize why this is newsworthy...’even Congressmen aren’t safe from crime in D.C.’ but the idea that it is only when ‘our betters’ are victims is it important, bothers me.

To be fair, it’s the same reason and response given to people asking why only white murder victims make the news in some cities - it’s because minority murders in that area, like carjackings of normal citizens in DC, are so common that they’re no longer news.

It’s SE DC.
K & NJ is in gentrified SE towards Nats Park, aka, lots of available victims. It's mostly modern apartment complexes there, but a few projects are left. But the reason the area is a target is because it's a quick hop over the bridge to "that" SE, Anacostia.
