Read what you wrote again. This is 2023. Not 1776.

I’m quite well aware of what I wrote, but maybe you didn’t think it through thoroughly. That old “well, it’s 2023” kind of argument, huh? That’s the “progressive” fallacy that nothing from the past matters because we have all “progressed” or “evolved” since then, and are so much wiser and more enlightened today. That nonsense is a conceit that couldn’t be farther from the truth.

The founders of this nation, while certainly fallible men as we are, were intellectual giants compared to those who hold themselves out as “enlightened” today. They also had the humility to evaluate every form of government that had preceded the one they were designing, and to take from them the best ideas and principles, including the obvious fact that sinful men would never be capable of self government unless they were self-restrained by the Biblical moral code.

Liberals and “Libertarians” only vary in their appetite for big government and taxation. On so-called “social issues” (what everyone else calls “morality”), they are one and the same. Both groups just want to live as sinfully as they choose with no consequences, and certainly don’t want the moral principles they wish to transgress codified into public policy. Nothing exemplifies that attitude more than the example you cited, abortion. Abortion is nothing more the cruel end result of some people’s desire to have sex without accountability, and abortion is their essential tool to murder the consequence of that decision to engage in illicit. There is ZERO nobility in that attitude.

True morality and the principles that undergird it are not “out of date”, but are instead universal and timeless. As well, evil is timeless…no matter what euphemistic term you choose to whitewash it with.
